Someone mentioned something similar to this a long time ago and just the poor little Pup. I just know he had worked so hard to make his nest prefect as he gets closer to his heat. And by the time the two of them actually start to get along, Dream's off in LA working on his music for two weeks with the promise of being back soon and that he'll bring back presents if they can behave themselves and not fight every night while he's gone. And they had been good, very good and friendly in fact, until the Puppy's skin started to feel warmer and his puppy brain takes full force making him need to create nest so he's protected during his heat. The the stupid kitty comes in and ruins everything for him, forgetting that he has his heats, while G has his dumb ruts every once and awhile. The Puppy had just settled in and was snuggling up against his Daddy's pillow when G came into the room and kicked off one of his perfectly placed hoodies, utterly ruining the nest as he Puppy shoots up and stares at him with wide eyes, tail tucking between his legs as tears spring forward and his lip wobbles.

"My nest..." he says pitifully, causing G's eyes to widen as he looks down and realizes what he had just done.

"Oh, no, Puppy, sweetheart I am so sorry! I didn't realize it was a nest. I'm sorry." He rushes to say, put it doesn't do much as the puppy shrugs off his touch and gets off the bed, not caring that it's ruined anymore as he runs from the room, needing to call his Daddy. "S4p, wait!" G calls after him, but the Pup is already gone and G's head falls when he hears the Pup's bedroom door slam shut. He lets out a low sigh, defeated.

When G goes to check up on the Puppy like twenty-ish minutes later, the door is unlocked, but the Puppy is nuzzled under his bed sobbing to his Daddy on the phone.

"Puppy," D's distant voice says. "I really don't think G intentionally broke your nest like that. He just forgets that you have heats since he's never there for them. I know he's been mean in the past, but love, he's not cruel."

"D's right," G says, causing the Puppy to gasp as he turns to look at him with wide eyes. "I didn't meant to do it, and I-I tried fixing it for you, if you'll come back upstairs." The Puppy looks at him reluctantly, but with reassurance from his Daddy, he does allow G to help him up and takes him upstairs to find his nest fixed, and it looks nice, and G actually tried. And it all makes the Pup feel a whole lot better as he cuddles Sapnap, nuzzling their faces together as he does.

Omg, I was not expecting this type of angst going into it, but it's so delicious!

Eventually, thought S4pn4p would feel guilty enough about lying, especially with his pregnancy hormones flying wild, that he would word vomit the truth while in a fit of tears and hand pressed to his swollen stomach. And while S4p can smell the disappointment wafting off of Dr34m at the truth finally being told, Dr34m doesn't waver for a single second and pulls him into the tightest hug imaginable. There's no thought of kicking S4pn4p out for feeling any different, he signed up to be the father of S4pn4p's kid, that's exactly what he's going to be, because no matter of blood or not, that child is his and always will be in his eyes.

Things aren't exactly perfect, but S4pn4p never has anything to worry about as Dr34m caters to his every need and his mother only offers even more support and care. The guilt creeps and floods around S4p's brain every so often, causing him to continuously ask Dr34m if he still loves him and the baby - those hormones are brutal - any every single time he's given reassurance and a soft kiss to his lips.

• "Our next kid can have my blood." Dream smiles, looking into the soft green eyes. "But this baby will always be our first."

And that's the only that matters.

Yeah, I think it takes until this moment for G to fully understand D's feelings towards the Pup, because obviously he knows that D loves the Puppy, but he never thought that he would be /in love/ with the Puppy the same way that he's in love with him. D doesn't try to do anything to hurt G, but he has to pull away from him a little bit as he tries fixing things with the Puppy, and G doesn't think he's ever seen D cry as much as he does every day that the Puppy doesn't trust him. He's never seen him at his worst emotional point in his life and knowing how hurt he is, and /feeling/ how hurt he is just makes G feel like absolute garbage. And in the end, it's G's doing that helps mend the broken path between them. Collectively, they all need each other and it's the realization of that.

Pupn4p doesn't just think he has to leave, he's convinced that they want him gone and that they've wanted him gone this entire time. He's nearly inconsolable and every reassurance that D tells him he refuses to listen too, because he just doesn't believe a word coming out of his mouth anymore. Even after they /both/ explain to him that they don't actually want him gone, the Puppy refuses to unpack his suitcase. Actually, he adds more and more of his treasured items to his suitcase so that he never loses track of any of them. He's just convinced it's all a ploy until the bombshell of him needing to leave is dropped. Countless nights of him sleeping alone, regressing in his speech because he refuses to talk to them, and just him breaking down on a regular basis. D, himself, is just completely devasted and distraught because he knows that no matter what he does, he'll never be able to fix it. He'll never be able to heal that wound that his own actions left on the Puppy's heart. He doesn't even blame G, because he knew the outcome, and he should've made it clear from the beginning that no matter how many fights happened or cold-shoulders were given, that the Puppy was never going to go anywhere because that's his decision. Him allowing G to think he has the upper hand the entire time is what leads to this situation, and it breaks his heart. He only blames himself.

Well, the entire first half of the story was leading up to this moment at the three month mark, just as G had told D, once the three months were up the Puppy needed to be in line. And in all honesty, G always knew that he'd find an excuse to use against the Puppy to kick him out of the house, it had just been a matter of waiting the three months out. However, the Puppy never knew what the three month rule was from the beginning, he figured that after the first two weeks of him not being sent away that meant he would stay with them forever, just as D had promised him. So, when he hears G telling D that it's been three months and the Puppy hasn't matched a single one of his conditions that it's time for him to go back to the pound. Obviously D fights G against this, knowing he's being harsh and stubborn, but the Puppy refuses to listen to the rest as he starts sobbing, pulling their attention to him in the door frame peeking in from behind. And he sobs about how they never loved him to begin with and as D tries comforting him, he shoves him away and runs down to his bedroom, packing his suitcase so they don't have to do it for him. In that moment he "knows" that he's destined for a breeding center, so he doesn't pack much, but at the very bottom of his suitcase he puts a picture of what was originally the three of them, but now it's torn down the middle with only him smiling so he can always remember what he looks like, so he doesn't lose himself. When he finally leaves his room again, he tots his suitcase and holds a brave face, while D tries to reassure him that he's not going anywhere that G is just being an asshole like always. And even though in the end, he does stay there, because that's his home, it begins another cycle of trust issues for the pup that they need to work through which is very difficult. This is four or five months before his heat with G, so it's a long grueling process of getting the pup to trust them again, a lot of back and forth.

So, the relationship between G and Pupn4p had been shifting for the better since this huge "argument" - it was less an argument and more G being a dick and hurting the Puppy's feelings; I can talk about that if someone wants - that happened between all three of them. This event is the actual turning point of G's emotions towards the Puppy, where he's slowly - although reluctantly - softening around the Puppy; he stops batting him away, and scolding him for no reason, and he'll let the Puppy love on him every once and while - things of that nature. Then, with the added effect that D is traveling a lot to work on his music, they both just have to spend a lot of time together. By now, the Puppy is less skittish around the house and even has his own gaming set-up, but he's still just a little Puppy and gets scared, sad, or has an accident, so he still has to rely on G for a lot of help when his Daddy isn't at home. Obviously after the heat there's still a lot of work to be done - pretty much only on G's end, because the Puppy is happy and bounds around the kitty - but it's less work than what it had been before. After this, G starts showing how much he actually likes the Puppy and their arguments die down into playful bickering like G does with D. Lets be honest though, D is quiet surprised to come back home to find the Puppy sound asleep in G's arms, while G just squints up at him in a daring manner, wanting him to say something smart so he could quip back.

I believe it's commonly thought that cats are intuitive and can sense things such as pregnancies and illnesses. But I don't know whether or not G would actually realize that he's sensing a pregnancy or if he just thinks that after they had sex he's more protective of the pup in general - a similar thing happened the first time he had sex with D just to a lesser extent. So I think the Puppy is the first to realize that something if off with his body and D's the first to point out he hadn't gone into heat in the past month since he's been home.

It would probably be late at night; a night where S had been up for an ungodly hour before D stumbled across the house to find him and bring him back to bed. S is completely spaced out when he finds him, causing him to worry, before the younger leans forward and clings onto his body as tightly as possible. S weeps loud enough for G to get curious and go and check on him as well. S is a shaking, stammering mess as he can't enunciate a single thought that's swirling through his head other than his need for the others as he pulls them closer with the tug of their shirts. Concern runs through the brown and green eyes as they hold him close, not daring to let him go until he tugs away himself, and even then that isn't something that he wants. It's a silent understanding as they nod to themselves and come to an agreement.
