They kinda met for the first time twice lol! The /first/ first time was during the Brother’s Rebellion, where Ceyre’s uncle overthrows her father, the current king. Aldren is a soldier for her uncle and is ordered to extract her during the chaos of the castle siege. Some years later and her uncle is made king, and Aldren is assigned to Ceyre as her personal knight! They only notice each other at this point c:

Of course!! c: Ceyre is Asian-coded in a high fantasy-European society. (This is over-simplifying it, but Farvald Dragon = European, Gryphon = Asian). Her story is a mirror to my struggle as a first-generation American. I’m not American in appearance, yet I’m also not Filipino in culture.
There’s a lot more to it, like family trauma and Aldren’s part in the story, and this is just the TLDR version! All of those topics sound sad but I promise their lore is more happy xD

Something obvious that rlly changed the game for me is to use overlays! If you look at old art of Cey, her color scheme is a bit everywhere— her wings have a greenish tone, then her skin is orangey, gray is also greenish, and her eyes are a bright reddish brown. The colors looked much better together once I put a purpley-pink overlay on her! As someone with no art-training, I know very little about color theory and this helped me xD
