Hello! This is Belle (@strangermob), the head mod of HeatWave. To answer your question: No, we did not choose the talented participants who joined this zine (with exception of our guests who we had the honor of accepting our invites).
If you had read our Carrd, this zine is "open for all". That would mean simply that anyone--strict dkbks or not--who wants to create dkbk contents can easily join the zine. No applications, no questions asked. We just want to provide free food for dkbk fans and/or switches alike.
The rules of this free zine still remains that this is a strict dkbk zine. The zine was created to house anyone who wants to do a dkbk piece in a safe space.
We hope that when it finishes, you will get to enjoy and appreciate the creative works of our creators! If you have any more questions, feel free to DM this account or DM me directly. Thank you!

Hi, I really love this zine idea, and I wanted to ask how long should a pitch summary be/what are they? I'm not used to writing them and I ended up writing basically a plot summary that's a bit long, is that okay? Thanks

I'll be inactive from early June to early July but I'd really like to join!! im wanting to join as an artist. will there be any possibility I could draw something before June or when I come back in July, exactly how long will I be able to wait before doing a peice for a fic or is it a fic is made based of a peice of art? this is my first time joining a zine but I'd really like to know how with my circumstances!! thank you for reading!
Hello! Thank you for your question and interest on joining. Based on our schedule:
March 31 (or earlier) - Start of creation period
April 27 - 1st Check-in
May 26 - 2nd Check-in
June 28 - 3rd Check-in
Final Submission - July 14
With the above, you can submit your progress during the 1st and 2nd check-ins. And then, submit your final work during the Final Submission phase.
If you want to do a collab (that would mean you get to do more than 1 piece of work for this zine), the same suggestion is applied.
PS: If you find yourself completing your piece(s) by May, that's great! However, the Final Submission is our signal and our go-to record that we are to include your work in the zine. ;)

i'm having trouble submitting the signup form. it appears to want pitches, but doesnt provide a text box to input anything for those pitches.
Hello! the pitches fields are on the 3rd page of the sign-up form. you need to fill up the first 2 pages before you can get on the pitches part. Thank you!

Hello! If we'd like to pair up with someone for our zine piece, should we indicate that on the application? Also would it be ok for a pair to have a nsfw fic and sfw art, or would you rather them be the same?
Hello! Thank you for your question! you can pair up with someone when our collab request open--that's when the pitches has been approved and announcement. :)
NSFW fic + SFW art (from an excerpt of that fic) pairing is a-okay! However, the sfw art will be placed on the nsfw section since it is based on a nsfw fic.

Most of my fics have switching dynamics, but the form asks for a snippet from our favorite DKBK fic. Does it matter if I submit from a fic with switching dynamics? Also, can we submit a snippet from an NSFW fic?
