i wanted to apply as both a merch artist and page/spot artist but i feel like these types of art require different skills. i already have two separate portfolios for these, would i be able to submit an application with two portfolios in it, or should i submit two separate apps and make it clear that they're both from me? i understand you can only be selected for one position so i don't want to mess with the system. thanks!
Hi! It's best if you only fill one application, so what we suggest is making a Drive folder with two folders inside with your examples separated by role^^
Hii, I read that we have to be +18 at the time the contributors apps end, I’m currently seventeen but I will turn 18 a month after this, can I still apply? If not that’s ok.
Hello! Sorry for the late response. You can apply if you're 18 by the end of the contributor apps. If not, we're sorry but you can't take part this time. Still, we hope this doesn't discourage you and you continue to apply to other projects.
How will contributors be compensated?
Hi! At minimum, all contributors will receive a PDF copy of the zine with no cost. If our sales goals are reached, contributors will receive the above and a full bundle + physical zine at no cost.
If I'm interested in applying for both fic writer and article writer, am I allowed to send in two different applications for each of those?
Hi! Because you have up to 3 examples and an optional portfolio, it's best if you submit the type of work you would like to work on, and then on comments (end of the form) state that you want to apply for both. using only one application.
Hi, I'm confused about the word count for the writer application.
The info doc says 1k to 3k but the application says 2k to 3k. Which should we be using? Is it bad to showcase a sample that's lower than the min. word count?
Hi! Thank you for pointing that out. The official range is 1k to 3k, we must have wrote it wrong in the apps. We will change it ASAP. Sharing a sample lower to the minimum word count may not show your skills, that’s why we stablished one ^^
If I want to apply to write article pieces and article pieces will be 1.5-2k words, can our samples be within that word limit as well?
Hi! Sorry for the late response. If you plan on working on a specific text, it’s best to submit examples of the same type so we can see your skills. As long as they are in the range limit, they will be okay.
Hello! I was wondering,
When is the cutoff for the 18+ rule?
I am currently 17, but will be 18 by the time preorders open, am I allowed to apply as a contributor?
Thanks and sorry for the trouble!
Unfortunately, if you are not eighteen once the contributor apps are closed, you will not be able to collaborate in the zine. Please do consider that you can still collaborate and helping the NGO buying a copy of the zine once they are available.
Thank you for you support and we are sure that we will be able to work together in future proyects.
Will contributers be able to submit more than one dish? Or is everyone limited to roughly one recipe per person?
First of all we are sorry for the delay, we have been so focused on the changes we wanted to implement to the zine, that we have not been able to attend questions from the last week or so.
Now regarding your doubt, submitting recipes is completely optional, as a contributor, the choice is for them to make. each contributor can share up to three recipes, but do keep in mind that your work will have to be related to the recipes, (ex: If I'm a page artist and draw a scene with the characters catching a chicken like monster my recipe/s will have to be cohesive with it)
kind regards
hi, is this zine pro shipper friendly?
Hi! Sorry but no, our zine is focused on dishes and the adventures to cook them. Even though we are not against or contributors to draw a ship (as long as the dish or the adventure is the main theme), we prefer that the zine stays outside of these types of relationships, hope you understand.
Hi! I saw your mods had no experience listed and I haven’t been able to find any zine mod experience on any of their personal pages. Do all the mods have moderation experience? Would you mind sharing it? I’m not sure I’m comfortable applying to a physical zine without knowing the mods have experience and what it is. Thanks!
Greetings, our team has no experience in the zine department as mods, however they have participated on projects of similar characteristics, made lots of research and asked help from more experience people.
This Zine, even if it’s their first one, We personally made sure that they are all professional, diligent and more than capable of organising such a project.
We understand your concern and hope this makes you feel less worried, after all this is a project made out of admiration for Dungeon Meshi and wanted to do something good. :)
Hello. I am confused about the nature of this zine. It sounds both like a cookbook and not at the same time. Will there be recipes included in the zine? If so, will there be chef contributors?
Hi! So the focus of the zine is making a "fake cookbook". We want to transform real recipes into the Dungeon Meshi world, and to kinda expand the recipes that can be made in the dugeon. We want to include recipes from real life, and as such when both artists and writers apply, we will ask them to write a recipe (can be a traditional dish from their country or their favorite food) and then we will replace the ingredients with monsters from the dungeon. We were thinking about the chef contributors, and it would make sense if we were bringing the anime dishes into real life, but doing it in reverse... It might be complicated. If you have any suggestions on how we could implement them, we are happy to read them and we will debate the cons and pros ^^
do i have to be able to communicate in both english and spanish to be considered for the position of writing mod?
Hi! There's no need to know how to communicate in both languages. Spanish is the primary language of the mods, but we all know and will communicate in English in case that's the main language of the writers mod.
