I feel like a good chunk of people who display symptoms of a pd and are just learning about personality disorders latch onto bpd like a life raft or something. Cause it's the "good" one. It's safe and socially acceptable. And in reality, it's not what's happening? I have seen so many people with npd say they thought they had bpd first, we are one of those people.
Npd isn't just "I'm the greatest!" It's also "I'm deeply flawed and I will wear the awareness of my flaws as armor" it's "I hate everything about myself, but I still think deep down, I'm better in some way". It's horrible, sickening perfectionism with no end in sight. It is this gnawing hunger to be the perfect version of yourself that you can never be. It is hating yourself to the point you cant even trust yourself, but being so afraid you cant trust others either.
