For the good person... Hmn... the good critter behind the screen and not the ocs :3

Can you tell us a little about why you don’t like hypno?
Honestly curious because your art often shows things like bad endings or choices of forms and curses that are impossible to escape, some rare ones that give me goosebumps and not in a good way >.>

I swear I'm not judging, I just want to understand how the mind of another TF fan who avoids Identity Death/Brainwash as much as I do >.>

So I love a good bad ending, yeah? Someone foiled by their own hubris, or maybe even someone totally undeserving, permanently stuck in some potentially cumbersome form, captured, trapped in stone, soulbound to an object…
But for me, said person has to be aware of their fate to make it interesting. If they’re hypnotised to enjoy it, or their identity’s erased so that person doesn’t even exist anymore, what’s the point?* That’s basically making a new character halfway through the scenario. Just doesn’t carry the same impact. I read to see a character’s reaction to becoming Wolf, I don’t wanna read about Wolf himself, y’know?

Outside of kinky context though, it just makes me uncomfortable sometimes. The thought of losing my mind or having my identity overwritten by a new one or even just not being aware of what I’m doing at any given moment is kind of a scary thought - hence why things like drugs and alcohol also make me uncomfortable (mostly the former). It’s a hard thing to explain while making sense, especially when there probably isn’t much difference between “Remy’s mind has been erased forever” and “Remy is stuck buried to their neck in cement forever” because they’re both scary, but I’d rather the latter while still being aware over the former where I no longer exist or my thoughts are suppressed.

Having said that, there are forms of hypno I like! I’m a huge fan of body control for example, and a little bit of mental suggestion every now and then is fine (making people speak in certain ways, for example). In a narrative context, I’m also not opposed to it.

*I know what the point is lmao I’m being facetious my hypno mutuals are cool
