I wanted to know how the excerpt system worked? Do I just submit enough excerpts to total 1.5k words?
Hello! So the form requires 3 samples and only two of them can be an excerpt/small section from a larger piece.
Each piece, whether it's an excerpt or not, must be between 1.5k and 3k words.
For example ; one submission can be 1.5k words, another can be 3k words, and the third can be 2.2k words.
You can also link a portfolio that holds multiple other pieces with varying word counts.

Why is a public social media account a requirement to apply? Is social media presence/following being taken into account during the decision making process? If not, then that seems like a strange rule…
Hello! No, follower count/presence will not be taken into account. A public social media account is needed so we can be as sure as possible about the age of applicants. We understand not everyone may agree with our rules and that's perfectly understandable.
