I have a question about LotLP! So do Yeosang and Seonghwa choose to transform/detransform every time the enter/leave water? Like do they have to make a conscious effort to (because it looks like it uses their energy) or is it a natural change (and just painful sometimes)? Sorry if you've already addressed this and I just missed it! It's a small detail, but I love your entire story!!! There's so much lore and thought put into everything! Thank you!!!
They have to make a conscious effort! Being human is kindof like a temporary seal on their mermaid magic. It doesn't seal everything away but it does keep the transformation things like their hair or tail from changing. For Hwx it's more "natural and subconscious" since he's been able to do it since he was a child. However, if a mermaid starts to dry out too much or for too long, their body will change to human as a last resort for survival. Sadly it doesn't work the other way around. So Wxxyx's fear about Yex not being able to swim is very valid.
