An acquaintance of mine said that lesbian are lesbians not because they're attracted to women but because they disgust men very much. What are your thoughts about this peculiar view?

There are really lesbians who disgust men very, very much. Anything "male" provokes their disgust. Though some of those prefer sort of male social roles and pseudo male behaviour for themselves. It's complicated. But this isn't the whole picture, nor is it a defining feature of lesbians I would say. Some gay guys also behave like absolute women haters and express their disgust loud and obscene. However the behaviour of these groups cannot be generalized as such. I do not feel disgust with regard to men, nor a general avoidance want or such. I have male friends. I feel loved when they hug me as I would when a girl hugs me. Though there is no sexual tension or attraction between me and any male I experienced that was mutual.

There are really lovely human beings among us and it would be madness to reject a person I love only because of gender or body. Though I never felt this or experienced it, I would not categorically rule it out a man and I could have more than just friendship. But I think it is extremely unlikely.
