At some point in time this was to be expected. Mr. Rushdie said he felt safe within the US but I never could understand this. Violence and religious zealots of any sort or religion including the violently religious zealots can be found there and have a stronghold within some parts of the population. So maybe this was the wrong place to feel relatively safe in?
