what do you think about galatea and helena's dynamic in their group?

I think it's really interesting!!! We mostly have Helena's side rn- and its a little hard to gather an exact vibe based on letters alone- so for now this is gonna be mostly focused on Helena because she's the one i haven't the strongest opinion on. Gala is a bit more loose... i need to reread aaa...

Cw// discussions of ableism
something i find interesting is how Helena kinda infantilises Galatea. Not maliciously but it's there. And i just really like that as a flaw for Helena who as a blind character perpetuates ableism against Gala- and for Gala who has despised such treatment based on her appearance.

I can't do a full like essay rn but i recall my friend mentioning it when they read the letters.

I do like this fact as a flaw for Helena because it gives her a nuance i don't often see explored. She herself is disabled but it doesn't prevent her from being ableist herself- and she does genuinely care for Galatea- and i think part of her unintentional infantilisation of Gala stems from her own sheltered upbringing, and in part in her trying to comfort Galatea she is trying to comfort herself. Esp with how she ressures Orpheus killing Emil to protect them.

Galatea... I do wonder if Ada and Emil recognised her from white sand or vice versa.... aaa i hope the diary replacement comes soon i'm so curious
