As an expat German I often find myself in need of true German bread. Though it is "only" a drive of 3 hours to go to Germany it is impossible to have good bread in Flanders. Not that they don't have bread here. They have. But it has neither the taste nor the texture nor the scent. Drama! You? Anything like that?

Perhaps it is a taste of home you are craving. Homesickness of sorts? Food tastes different from country to country. Basic ingredients aren’t produced/grown the same way. This is the same when I go to Mexico. Bread, corn-based products and meat taste very different compared to USA. Food is a lot less flavorful here.
