The letters do, in fact, reach the battlefield due to an Extremely Good Mail System, and they get taken back as well. A lot of soldiers have loved ones they’re sending letters to as well, and Kanji in particular is sending back letters as often as he can write them and get away with.

As for whether they’ll continue exchanging letters… I’d say no. The next communication they’ll have is when Goro makes it home. very dramatic!
