Same anon, I'm a little confused. I meant the art on the table of contents in Vol 3, how is that PM!Dazai? Didn't he start wearing the vest + striped shirt + bolo tie after his defection? /gen
Oh! Alright so I pulled up my copy of the book since I cant find it online for some reason, but you're right. He does seem to be wearing the Ada outfit, while also having his eye covered and the same PM injuries. I will say though, in my honest opinion- I think it has a lot to do with the flashback chapters and the mentions of his past, putting both his past and future in that art rather than a type of foreshadowing. I think it's simply a design choice.
I think that we can take advantage of chekhov's gun though. "narrative principle that states that every element in a story must be necessary, and irrelevant elements should be removed." so if it is mentioned, it must be used. Ergo, I think that can be applied to the invitations to rejoin the mafia. Taking advantage of that "gun". It must be fired at some point. So the gun fire would be his return to the mafia.
