Does Kaia eat regular food or does she eat other things?
She eats normal food but a compulsion to absentmindedly chew on stuff mixed with nearly indestructible teeth and a powerful jaw means sometimes she just kind of takes bites out of random objects. More often than not a bite gets taken out of a plate or she chews up her silverware while eating.
