Omg was the Hong Kong show Forensic Heroes?!? Cos if so, that’s the one that got me interested in forensics too!! I just loved to solve puzzles and I so wanted to do what they did. Unfortunately I don’t have a brain cut out for chemistry or physics, I’m more of a biology kinda person so I went down another route. But so cool!!!

not the anon who asked about forensics but what’s the difference between biotech and forensics (like irl in jobs not studies wise) they both involve lab work right? would you have been interested in that too if you didn’t have an inclination for crime scene work

hey, it’s me again (i’m the anon asking abt forensics)! that’s so cool but i’m so fr i live really close to a police station and the only crimes are people trying to break into other people’s homes 😭😭 nothing else happens in my suburb (obviously there’s like some domestic violence, but even youth crime like barely exists) but i think it’s probably because my suburb has quite a lot of rich old people who are just here to play golf so there’s not much action otherwise. anyways, i just started grade 12 this year (i came from internationally so im a lot older) and i thought forensics was pretty cool. sorry if im being annoying but i have another question, is there a reason you chose forensics over something else that also involves chem, like pharmacy or something? i just dont really know what i want to do, but im really passionate about chem and its my best subject.
hahaah that's okay. I picked Forensic because of a goddamn Hong Kong TV series I watched as a child (not joking). Also, I thought doing crime scene work would be fun (until I learnt all the procedures and protocols you have to follow as a crime scene officer and the crazy shit you have to see at a crime scene). Now, I'm content with lab work. If you are passionate about chemistry, I'd recommend a degree in applied science with a major in Chemistry. It's more flexible than a forensic degree and easier to find jobs. Forensic is a very niche field with most jobs being in the police force, so if you are not willing to become a sworn officer, I do not recommend you do it. I am just lucky that my state has a government-run forensic lab. I am sure other states do too, but getting your foot through the door can be very difficult. Another advice is, that university doesn't always teach what real life is like. There are a lot of skills you can learn on the job, and a degree is not as important as the skills you have. So if you can show your employers how to utilise your skills, then you're already ahead of many fresh graduates. Good luck with your HSC or whatever examination you are taking for university!

hey sel, i was curious about your job (you do forensics right?) and i was wondering if it was more on the chem or bio side, and also, like do you work with the police because i heard they go hand in hand, but there’s barely any crime in australia (at least where i live 😭) so if you do work with crime scene stuff, is there really that much to do? sorry if this is hard to understand english is not my first language 😭
Hi! Yes I work in forensic, more on the chemistry side. We work with the police, and I’m trained in arson cases, so I mainly deal with fire crimes or crime where they used accelerants. You’d be surprised by how many crimes are committed and the media doesn’t cover it. You might not see it on the news but there are a lot. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be a fire, it can be a perpetrator pouring petrol onto another person and threatening to light them on fire. We get those kinds of scenario a lot, especially with domestic violence. I don’t work in crime scene unfortunately. I did learn about crime scene, but it’s fun but too hectic for me, and I prefer the lab more. I hope that answered youe question anon 🙂

Hahaha thank you. I’m receptive when I need to be. I’ve had some unwarranted comments and demands for plot changes and potential characters and tropes that I’m not comfortable with. It’s all about the way the ideas and comments were expressed and whether or not I asked for them. Most of the time I love hearing what people think of my stories and their potential theories (I LOVE THEORIES!!! 😝) but sometimes, I just tell people, “I want to write it like this because it’s my story.” 😌

Yessssss yessss yessssssss exactly what I was telling my moots! He got sick immediately after Jn so it’s plausible that he took care of Jn while Jn was sick and then got sick himself. Also sick Jn being all sulky and keeps telling Jm to go home or he will get sick as well, but Jm insists on staying to take care of him 😝😝😝😝😝
