Hi hope you are doing well! I’m a quiet lurker but I love your art and although I love to draw myself and been drawing on and off for years I’m nowhere near good enough. Sorry if this has been asked but what do you do to get motivation and any tips on how to improve? Thanks in advance and will continue to support you quietly! Take care!!
Hi dear, thank you you sm! Honestly for me, it's just looking and observing other artists! I have a pinterest board filled with art I like to look back on and study. Also REFERENCES! Don't be afraid to use reference in your work. I have shit memory and I just forget what things look like so using a reference is essential for me! If you aren't able to find a suitable reference for what you're going for, create your own! For me since I'm on its I use this app called magic poser! The anatomy can be a little wonky but the more you do studies and draw the human body, you can make those corrections! In my most recent wip, I'm using a combination of the two ( a reference for the background and magic poser for the characters) When I'm finished I'll post a time-lapse so you can look back on how I use them if that helps! Also when I'm starting a sketch what helps me is SHAPES. I don't focus on the details at all, I sometimes will turn the reference I'm using into a silhouette just so I can focus on what shapes I'm seeing and replicate that. I use to paint a lot traditionally and that's how I go about laying down my foundations for the piece! I don't focus on one thing but the overall picture. I don't feel like I'm articulating myself well here so I'll make a separate post regarding this with resources. I hope I was able to help you somewhat! Also please don't say you aren't good enough, art is HARD and I struggle everytime I get started on something. I don't even make it out the sketch phase sometimes! Just know that every drawing you make an improvement is being made, no matter how small! Thank you for your continued support! I love yall 🥹
