hi peo! just checked out your new fic and i'm really liking it so far. i do have a question though.

it's about this quote: 'Jisung is well known for being one of the first openly queer students on campus. He’s not really bisexual though. He just likes almost anyone that he comes across, regardless of their gender, but most people on campus are still so stuck in the past on this matter.

So yeah… Bisexual is a wise choice of word, at least for the stubborn people down there.'

please correct me if i'm reading this wrong or if it wasn't your intention for it to come across this way, but it seems like you're implying here that bisexuality is exclusive of non-binary people, and that it shouldn't be used if you're attracted to non-binary people as well as men and women. i'm sure you're aware of The Discourse about bisexuality vs pansexuality too, and how it can be really unproductive. i feel it only invites more division in our community. personally i'm of the belief that the two overlap broadly and they can, in many contexts, be used interchangeably. the original definition of bisexual even states that it is 'attraction to two or more genders'.

i really hope that isn't what you intended; as a non-binary bisexual myself i don't feel that the term bisexual excludes non-binary people at all.

please know that i'm not coming from a place of accusation or judgment, and i just want to understand what you meant in your writing.

i hope you're having a good day <3

Hi anon!! Sorry for the late response, i was overwhelmed the last few hours and i forgot to check on my rs before... right now :(

First of all, thank you for reaching to me about your question! Then I'll try to respond to the best of my abilities, i apologize in advance if my thoughts are a little disorganized (don't hesitate to dm me or reach out again here if I'm unclear in any way, I'll try my best here though) 🙏🏼

My intention with this quote was to say that people on their campus are not really open about queers matters and have the need to label people and while he himself never defined/labeled his sexuality, jsvng is perceived/labeled as bisexual by them. He never put a term. Mnh0 just thinks people wanting to label him are stubborn but at least choose a term that was wise/sensical.

If it seems that i implied anything else than this, I'm truly sorry and it wasn't my intention. I know about the discourse bisexuality vs pansexuality and about the division it creates in our community.

As someone who still doesn't know how to label herself after nearly 27years of living, and doesn't feel the need to for now, I think that those two terms (pansexuality and bisexuality) overlap to some extend just like you said, and thus do not exclude non-binary people.
I would also add that anyone feeling comfortable using one or the other, or both, and even none, for themselves is legitimate, because as individuals we're the ones who knows better about who we are.

I hope my answer helped you understand what i was saying in my fic, and that I'm not landing... off-topic (like i hope i really understood your question and answered it) if not I blame my limited english and invite you to ask me more precisely (please) ^

I hope you're also having a good day anon <3
And thank you for reading!
