They run into paranormal stuff ever so often, and/or get called in to help with paranormal things. Sometimes explicitly to the extent that the Death Rats- the rodents who can see ghosts and things, call in agents like them to help with the terrestrial side of spiritual matters.

So they've seen their fair share of bizarre and unexplainable things.
