Fave hyperfix rn?
Didn't your comms used to cost more? Why lower it so much?
Saw that ask you sent Null about The Nice House on the Lake and I just wanted to say thanks because I read it all in one sitting and wow it's really fucking good and now it's gonna live rent free in my brain forever.
how do you draw consistently and kinda fast :') i am honestly kinda jelly, i'm a slow artist still learning the fundamentals
I actually don't, if that makes you feel any better? When I actually sit down to drawsomething, it takes me about a day or so to complete, but I struggle really badly with depression. The Adam drawing and the drawing of Bella and Worm I posted yesterday are the first things I've drawn without needing to force myself in months.
In general what's helped me is that I watch or listen to informative (doesn't always need to be serious, but informative) things when I draw, like documentaries or podcasts, so I have mental stimulation but not as much visual distraction (so no cartoon binges, no YouTube videos, etc), and then I use references. Poses, pictures, screenshots, whatever. And yes, I often trace the pose references I have (obviously use stuff that's made for reference or tracing, don't trace someone's finished art) and it's helped me IMMENSELY.
There’s something about how you draw Alastor that makes me feral. I want to rip my pants off and eat him. Anyways how’s your day?
Belladonna? More like belladARLIN!!!!
FUN FACTS AVOUT HER. PLEASE. Powers? What her relationships with her dads is like? Hobbies? I GOTTA KNOW!!!!
OKAYOKAY!!! So Bella was conceived right before Al and Vox went their separate ways. Al found out he was pregnant and kept it super secret, told no one but Rosie. Bella grew at a really fast rate and was born within a month, and reached "adulthood" after six more. Alastor needed to keep up appearances, so he was generally distant and Bella was raised primarily by Rosie. If asked, Bella told people she died in 1942 of tuberculosis in Washington State. Alastor gave her very strict instructions to never leave Cannibal Colony since they have no security cameras, and if she ever did leave, it had to be after dark and with her face heavily covered. When technology advanced, she also wasn't allowed to post her face online, so she eventually becomes a semi-popular faceless influencer.
From there, she found an interest in death and gore and studied medicine and surgery! She calls herself Dr. V, and stalks the streets of Pentagram City, snatching up demons to cut apart and experiment on. She has a fascination with body modification, and generally sees it as a fashion statement rather than any kind of medical procedure. A lot of inspiration for her came from Repo! The Genetic Opera and Bioshock!
As for her abilities: she has limited hypnosis and technomancy powers that would be a lot stronger if Vox was in her life to teach her, and she has a shadow like Alastor's and can teleport between places using shadows as well!
Also fun fact, she calls Alastor "Papa," Vox "Daddy," and Rosie "Auntie Rosie."
On a scale of 1 to 10, how fruity are we feeling today?
MY SOGGY MEW MEW SKEPPY ILY WKDMDNND
Also LUCKYY MEETING ANGEL HIMSELF MY BLORBO
Which convention are you going to? :0
I saw you were doing cosplay prep!
Which is your favourite character of Hazbin Hotel and why?
Someone else asked for my top three so I'm gonna combine those questions!
Alastor: Blorbo Bleebus. My soggy creature. Little meow meow. Honestly a case of me hyperfixating and obsessing over little details. I have so many tiny headcanons about him just. So good.
Husk: GOOD GOD I LOVE A COMPLICATED "GOOD" GUY. I love his kindness wrapped up in anger and coldness. I love that he's got such a dark past. I love that he's the first one to see through Angel's bullshit. I LOVE that he called Angel out on making him uncomfortable with the flirting!!! I cannot wait for more of him.
Val: Listen. I'm a sucker for a good villain to begin with, but this one was sold to me with Joel's performance. There's something about an abuser being portrayed so well that makes me feel more comfortable with the character thanks to what I've gone through myself.
What was your inspiration for the one giant scar on Alastor?
I forgot to specify, so sorry for that! Would you recommend a specific type of foam for crafting cosplay accessories or wigs, and paint you would recommend using <3
EVA foam is soft, easy to carve, and flexible! It can be shaped with a heat gun and textured with a dremel tool! It can be easily painted with just about any paint you can get your hands on too! If you need something firmer, insulation foam boards are basically much thicker foam core and can be shaped with carving tools and a dremel, but not heat shaped. It also can't be exposed to paints like spray paint because it corrodes the foam! For smaller shapes (I used to use this for Homestuck horns back in the day) you can use floral foam! It doesn't take detailed carving very well, and it's super porous so covering it with something like Worbla, plaster, or even paper-mache is best before painting it. For foam wigs, like my Alastor wig, I used craft foam sheets you can get at any store! It's just ultra thin EVA foam, so that wig is heat shaped and painted with acrylic.
EVA foam needs to be heat sealed before it can be painted, which is just taking a heat gun and applying heat until the foam is shiny to look at. This closes up the pores and keeps it from soaking up the paint like a sponge. Plasti-Dip is my personal favorite to start with as a base coat; it's a rubber-based spray paint that closes any missed pores and creates a great surface to start painting on. I also personally don't like using spray paint on textured or detailed foam pieces because it's easy to miss spots, so if you have the patience I would recommend hand painting with acrylic.
Mod Podge, white glue, or clear dry liquid latex are all good choices for a sealant, but can all crack to come extent. If you're worried about cracking, I recommend Maker's Magic, Americana acrylic spray, or any non-enamel based coating!
hello! hope it's not a weird question, do you have any tips for cosplay beginners ^^,? I saw some of your cosplays and through they looked lovely!
