Ness worships Kaiser. Ness idolizes Kaiser with such a strong sense of self that it turns into blind devotion, and even diminishes his ability to think critically and see beyond what Kaiser shows him. Maybe Ness does love Kaiser, but it is not a pure, honest kind of love. The kind of love Kaiser seeks is the kind that he can’t understand, the one he was denied; unconditional (maybe even familial) love. If Kaiser is seeking anything from Ness, it’s attachment, but now that he’s let go of Ness’ hand, I don’t think Ness can offer him more to stay. Unless Ness can change too, then…
