Socks socks I know we’re exited for SY Chngb but something something SY and Chn parallels in canon, connection and understanding and longing? Empathy? Desire? Late night hours in the studio, frustration and sadness but everything seems okay cause they are not alone. Someone gets it, the burden, the dream, been the head of it all. Just the scape of carnal hope and knowing they got each others back

oh. ohhh. oh this one, ali, wow. i never thought of soyeon and chan before, but now i'm not going to stop thinking about soyeon and chan. i see so many parallels too, and i'm going to list a few of the first ones that popped into my mind.

  1. starting in this cut-throat industry at a very young age.
both of them got thrust into this horrifically intense world when they were just literal children. chan left home by himself the moment he turned 13. soyeon was slaving under cube when she was a teenager. they both learned everything they could by themselves and ended up becoming masters of their trade, except they don't believe that since they still strive to be even better, always itching to improve.

  2. the constant shit they get for their "visuals".
i have seen the nastiest, ugliest things said about chan and soyeon where people just shit on them for not complying with the kbs and it's just so fucking vile. i remember soyeon during unpretty rapstar and the ugly shit that the contestants, judges, and every tom, dick, and harry were saying about her and it still pisses me off. it's just crazy bc i genuinely think soyeon's hot as fuck? but then again, incels will incel, ig *shrug. and then there's chan, too. still people are nasty towards him bc they don't like the way he looks when he legit looks like a fucking greek god? i think it's bc it's impossible to shit on people like chan and soyeon based on their talents and skill, so these assholes will attack them in the most shallow way possible.

  3. their 'respect me, i respect you, don't respect me, then fuck you' attitude.
i adore them both for this mindset bc they both clearly know their worth and there's little else that's as wonderful to see as that. jeon soyeon gets hate every fortnight for calling out incel bullshit. chan lost chan's room bc he was making an accurate observation. chan also gets hate the moment he tries to draw a boundary but he sticks to what he says even when people get ridiculously upset by it. they're both in an industry where the ideal is to be cookie-cutter picture perfect no matter how unrealistic it is, and neither of them are scared to call bullshit, bullshit (as they should). people like chan and soyeon remind everyone else that these idols are just like us, with jobs and struggles and personal lives, when a huge number of people don't see them beyond a doll dressed up pretty to sing and perform.

  4. the slut shaming.
all i'm gonna say about this is i vividly remember when nxde came out (and then klaxxon, and a whole other host of incidents both predating and current), and the 'oh, the only reason chan's solo is doing so well is bc he gets naked on stage.' like, stop. get some help. eat some grass. talk to actual people.

  5. being so insanely skillful.
chan and soyeon have both sacrificed so much to get to where they are today. and they're proud of it bc it has made them the powerhouses they are now. both of them are so insanely talented, but they've also amassed literal oceans of skill by failing and trying and failing and trying again until they get it as close to as perfect bc talent can only get you so far. chan and soyeon know their crafts inside and out, and that's sth genuinely rare in any sort of work environment bc the majority of people don't bother to learn more than the bare minimum, another aspect that sets them apart but on level with each other.

  6. being the leader.
i think this one is self-explanatory. they know what it's like to be responsible for not just their own individual dreams, but for an entire group made up of kids when they were kids themselves. they sacrificed their childhoods to give their teammates sth as close to a childhood as they can get in their line of work, and they found families in them. seriously tho, the found family vibes go so hard with idle and skz, ali, it's kinda insane.

i can honestly go on and on about the parallels to chan and soeyon bc your ask just opened up a whole slew of possibilities for me, and i'm honestly so thankful that you sent this in bc now i have another beautiful pairing i never knew i needed in my life <33
