Hm. It’s a tough topic, rather controversial, as people tend to have different moral values. Personally, I’m a ‘Separate The Art From The Artist’ type of person (although I have certain boundaries). Financially, of course you’re helping (you’re recommending, ‘marketing’ it). Of course, with this comes popularity, hence helping said author having a larger platform and/or influence in the reading community (even beyond). So, in this case, it doesn’t automatically counts as supporting the author morally but rather financially and much more. Read it in silence, like it in silence, no need to spread it. Your preferences are your own, your values are your own, this is my take on this.
