how does jackie fit inside of her box?
She doesn't, she's "defective" (she also has no legs in there actually, the box is part of her) - lore wise she was meant to be a toy factory's experiment on building one of their regular toys but human sized and with sentience (their regular toys are just normal toys), but the machine bugged out when upsizing the design and accidentally made her body extra-large too. If you wind up the crank on her box her head pops out instead to accommodate for this
do you have some ideas to make a game?
I think about ideas for games all the time, but I will likely never make one. I've always been bad at coding and simply just don't have the time to put something together, so those ideas will likely stay just that, ideas. I have made a few mods for games though (mostly playermodels), and will likely continue to.
A lot of those game ideas actually involve Siyan, an OC who I haven't really used in a while because she hasn't been remodeled yet. A mime-centric game does sound fun, though.
So where did the idea of Mippi start from and what was your experience using Blender as a whole?
This question actually touches on some things I wanted to talk about eventually anyway, so I'll give you a long(ish) answer:
As I've mentioned, Mippi was my second full character project in Blender ever, shortly after my ghost character, Brooke Enbach. Honestly, I'm not sure how it came out so nice for a project that only spent about a week in the modeling phase and was done with a lot less Blender knowledge, but the project was really me pushing myself with an idea I had always wanted to do, among other things. I had always wanted to make a character with the shortstack body type as well as making a mimegirl since I think they're pretty underrated and I love monochrome-skinned characters (I used to have a different one forever ago that I was absolutely obsessed with), so I simply started with that concept in mind and sort of completely winged it and ended up combining the two. The body type came first as a rough model for practicing modeling off of refs, specifically following refs from artists such as Fladdykin. Much like every other character I've made (because I lack the skill to draw my own refs), I made up Mippi's design and clothing and such as I went, looking to various mime stuff for rough guidance. She was also an attempt to try at the cute yet hot character archetype, something I think I communicated well judging by the responses I've gotten regarding her.
This project also gave me a chance to see what I could do without VRoid's limitations (VRoid is a bit of a character creator with a bit of a hair modeling tool tacked on, less of a modeling tool and more of an avatar maker). I used VRoid throughout very late 2019-2021, and while I would have recommended it in a heartbeat during that timeframe, I don't think I'd say the same now. Ultimately, I've ended up pretty much no longer using the program because the program was starting to actively hamper my ideas and not allow me to explore certain concepts. Overall, this project was really a way to test what I could design now without VRoid's limitations, so I went wild with it. It came out about exactly how I wanted it to!
As for learning Blender, I can safely say that I've barely scraped the surface of what I could know. Frankly, I'd say that I've mostly focused on learning sculpting and have admittedly slacked on other concepts that I'd like to get better at (more detailed clothing is something I'd like to work on, for example). Regardless, I'd say that I'm in a better position with it than I was in like, 2018 or 2019 for example, where several different times I had opened the program, become overwhelmed by the UI, and closed it in about the span of a minute every time. At the beginning of 2022, out of spite I ended up picking it up and really forcing myself to absorb it. I still find myself learning something new every day, and I don't expect that to change. I've heard even the most experienced modelers say you never really fully learn how to do everything. I really think anyone can do it if they invest the time into it (you'll be investing a lot of said time)!
Sorry for the wall of text, I just really like to gush about design stuff and the general process. Thanks for giving me an excuse to! (and thanks to like the 3 people who will read this fully)
TL;DR I like mimes and shortstacks so I mushed them together, also Blender is hard
how often does mippi break things with her butt on accident
(edit to the last question: fav girl with a fat dumptruck)
(For those curious, the initial question asked about underrated characters)
Overall, in terms of chars without dumptrucks, absolutely Daniella from Haunting Ground by a landslide. With a dumptruck would probably mostly refer to people's OCs for now since I can't think of any very large established characters atm, so I'll say Fiffer's robot girl D33-D (not to toot my own horn but I also really like Mippi, but I assumed you wanted me to mention someone else's character).
I meant any character in general (shows, games, etc.) but nice to see you're working on a character that has cheeks that are as fat as Milli's
More established/official characters? I can't really think of any to be honest, especially not in any games or anything (well, not without the inevitable modding games have, of course). You can easily find other people's OCs who fit the description, though (FifferDraws and his OCs come to mind)
Is there any character that you think is as thick as Mippi
Of any that belong to me, or other people's characters? Because I could say yes to both of those. I started on a larger shortstack character, but I haven't had time to fix her up yet (a buddy redlined this character for me, have to implement their advice): https://twitter.com/AlsoGmg/status/1584696238821154817?s=20&t=U5wzvVAFIJ24PeBfHQ-7NQ
How do you think Mippi would react if I appeared in front of them as a different type of mime and much bottom heavier? would she find me a menace to her job?
Just saw this - Probably, if that other mime character I proposed is any inclination. She'd love to partner up with other mimes, but there's a higher demand for single people acts and being competitive to land those gigs is just show business. She has no opinions on clowns, however, as they don't pose a threat to her business (different niche).
Okay then, as a more YOU question, which Star Wars movie did you watch?
They Dark Mimedom is a path to many abilities, some consider...thick, did you know that?
Did you ever hear the tale of Darth Mippi the wide?
Has Siyan had ever any trouble dealing with "customers", if you want to call them that?
She hasn't had to deal with many irate customers, but she still lacks knowledge on many human customs and concepts (she learns by experience), so she sometimes gets confused and requires further clarification (she does not understand a lot of human slang). She currently spends most of her time working at a very pricy hotel that has helped subsidize further development in exchange for having her work there and draw in attention, but occasionally she undergoes mandatory job training at different job locations to see what the best fit for her tech is. An eye is generally kept on her by her company due to her value, so occasionally she receives assistance or even protection in more serious situations.
Has Siyan ever reached the logical conclusion that to help humanity you need to stop humanity?
Thoughts that would endanger the lives of any humans are inhibited and not allowed, for obvious reasons, but other than that she pretty much has free will. She will only attack humans in self-defense using the taser built into her hand (she can secretly overclock it due to an unaddressed vulnerability in her mechanics that her creators do not know about, but she's never had to get to that point). She is also very protective of her hairpin and may attack anyone who tries to steal it, as it is her first possession (it's actually a fridge magnet).
In fact, she was created with the inability to even feel anger at all, only minor annoyance. However, she ended up adapting her own form of it over time and simply "learned" the emotion, which is why her angered expression looks very off (she does not feel the emotion the same way we do). It's possible if she was able to learn that she could one day learn more things she isn't supposed to, but there aren't any signs of this happening.
How long has Y4N been active for exactly?
(S1 is technically her first name, Y4N is her product type - S1-Y4N, Siyan is just her nickname) She started out her life as an AI experiment on a flash drive, but after a couple of years of tinkering until its processing power rivaled anything anyone had ever seen (it passed the turing test, suggesting that it was actually sentient), they wanted to see what would happen if they gave the AI a body. She's only been in that body for about 2 years, but she possesses the mental inteligence of a 19 year old (so, she's about 19 in "robot years").
Let's start with the simplest of questions, how much can Siyan be modified for her profession?
As she is currently the first and only model of the Y4N product, they have been reluctant to try things out on her. However, hypothetically, she could have her appearance modified to change her body type or personality, for example. Although the Y4N bots are meant for more sedentary, less physically tasking jobs, internal modification to make them a bit stronger is a possibility (she is relatively weak). Research into her is relatively early (she is the first robot of her kind), but they'd like for future models to be incredibly customizable if possible.
