Sort of? They only work on people who can hear me without any sort of obstruction to the ears. I'm less effective if transmitted (say, over a live phone or broadcast) and not effective at all in recorded form. I've never tried my ability with anyone hearing impaired, because that just seems like a boundary I don't want to cross without permission.
