I really love your art! Any advice or tips for someone that is learning to draw?
(beaming!!) Thank you Anon!!! I'm a huge advocate for anyone wanting to pick up drawing ... If I had to offer any tips, ahhh... I would say:
I beat myself up over it now that I'm way older. Are you more interested in drawing faces, expressions, hair, or other body parts-- but aren't completely interested in learning how to draw other assets? That's FINE! What's essential to you and what do you want to convey? You can convey so much just through simplicity alone. There's not a need to be anatomically correct, and art shouldn't make you feel inclined to do something that doesn't bring you joy or doesn't add anything to what you want to put out into the world. So go you! Draw your 1st, 50th, 50000th bust shot!! If it makes you happy, do it! Keep doing it! Persistence is key here!
Now there is a fine line and whatnot here. There are people that talentlessly trace and you can really tell between when an Artist is Inspired by something, and when Talentless Normie #3304 copies a pic of a big breasted anime girl lol (if that makes sense) What you're doing is studying, what Normie is doing is just tracing without soul or the willingness to learn.
Eventually things come naturally to you. You discover shortcuts, and how to draw up things faster and faster without looking at references.
Oh! And simply observing things around you, and just admiring pictures of characters and their traits. What do you like about the composition of this picture? or what do you like about the expression of this particular character in a freeze frame? As you can tell prolly from my rambling, a lot of creation for me form stems from joy and happiness. How inspiring! I feel like I could look at a picture of Epel once and feel so overwhelmed with inspiration and love that I just GOTTA draw him again!
Overall, I know people aren't going to care what details look like. Does the art process start getting upsetting and demotivating? Then it's time to relax and refocus, understand it's okay that it doesn't look right to you. When art isn't fun anymore, that's when you need to prioritize again. What's essential to you? You don't NEED to draw certain things to a degree just to get to the Main Event. (for instance, you want to draw boobies but don't want to draw arms or anything. But you feel like you need to, in order for the pic to work. Guess what! you don't need to! Don't force yourself to!)
What you need to always keep in mind is that: does it make you happy? Then Do it! No one likes art from a miserable and soulless wretch. (except me, im miserable and soulless)
Down Sides/Sides people don't talk about (from my perspective):
There are also downsides to art and it's just inevitable. Take heart! you aren't alone when you feel these things! They're normal. They're part of the process. Do not lose hope!
remember those drawings you thought were ugly you made years ago? You'll look back on them fondly eventually. There is joy and beauty in everything, inspiration is everywhere, and it's a joy and a blessing to be able to create. That's why I say to you anon, DRAW!!!!!!!!!! THAT!!!!!!!!!! PICTURE!!!!!!
and draw vil with a huge fat ass
