Ares isn't exactly a great person, he kinda sucks ... big time lol but that's what makes him fun. It is mutual! Though they have a pretty shitty relationship- Bickering, jealousy, lack of communication, so on, the whole 9 yards. Ikaros is not exactly the best person either, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Ares pretty much had a shit marriage, Ikaros being a Daddys girl was clingy- the man definitely drinks too much and definitely makes pretty awful choices when he does. One thing lead to another. There are some grey areas where Ikaros may have initially pined for it, she's crafty- to say the least
