Once Xie Lian is sold to a certain mysterious and wealthy individual, he starts very wary. Relating to my reply to part 1, imagine if he still has in mind everything that his captors threatened him with — whether he liked it or not, he was now this man's property, and the benevolent attitude he received was probably just to placate him and make him more receptive, once the man reveals his intentions. Xie Lian was not going to give him the satisfaction — he was not going to give in easily. But what then, once this man grows bored of his struggling? Would he just take off the friendly mask and take him by force? Or try to dominate him with his pheromones like other alphas in the past? Or would he drug him and take Xie Lian in his sleep?

As you can see, Xie Lian was very distrustful when this stranger told him that he wouldn't be harmed, and that he was free to roam the manor as a guest. It just seemed too good... he knew that wealthy people who visited these kinds of auctions were just looking for a sex toy to fuck and breed to their loins' content, and this guy was surely no differenf!

I also imagine that at first Xie Lian would nit let Hua Cheng take a look at his bruises, but maybe just of the bruises or bites are quite ugly, and while Xie Lian thinks it will go away with time, it actually starts becoming worse and worse, because maybe it got infected (maybe the alpha that left it had dirty nails, or maybe they were a bit ill that day, and a bite was enough to transfer it to Xie Lian) — and in the end the wound festers so bad that it hurts to move it, and that's when Xie Lian finally agrees for Hua Cheng to take a look at it — and cue Hua Cheng laying Xie Lian naked down on the bed and thoroughly checking his whole body and every bruise with a stern frown 🥺
