question that haunts me because like... it's easy to just say cat or dog or both and i will do exactly that. HOWEVER, as much as i have a cat preference in general, for some reason i cannot really imagine them as easily with a cat as i can with a dog. i don't know if anyone else gets this about them... anyway, the thing is i feel like hermann might be more inclined to bigger dogs whereas vediovis might prefer smaller ones; again, i don't know why but... ack. vediovis would rather just go with what hermann wants though so it's hermann's choice when it comes to dogs - vediovis is more of a "would only take the dog if it came to her" sort aka a stray or something. well, i think this is how she is about most animals really.

and to be honest, in the AUs i think of where they are not in PM City, i still am horribly attached to vediovis only have a dog because she was given custody of the dog in her previous divorce. did vediovis WANT the dog? not really and it was her ex's choice, and yet here she is... with her pointless creature. meanwhile, hermann would have a dog of her own probably. so then when they get together they will have TWO dogs.

basically, i just think if they have a cat in addition - the cat would be so close to invisible people would visit and years later get jumpscared by it and be like "when did you get a cat" and they would be like "? we've had the cat this whole time"

BUT if we take the usual cat or dog out of the equation, vediovis would choose fish most likely. this is also due in part because vediovis does not have to be as anxious about any tragic accidents that might occur. sighing loudly, she may or may not have had a trauma related to this occur before so... so. ANYWAY when it comes to hermann, i don't think she would be particular about the sort of pet that they did end up with so fish are perfectly fine - maybe even preferable since they're less hands-on overall. they could probably have a nice little home aquarium together...

second choice is some kind of farm animal (IF vediovis managed to kind of find a way to move past her trauma AND they had the means with which to have such a beast... or beasts even). hermovies farmville life. imagining hermann milking a cow right now i guess
