Can we still purchase the digital zine + nsfw addon?
Hi anon!
Sorry about the delay here—we wanted to wait until we were ready to announce leftovers. Starting on 7/29, you will be able to purchase the digital zine and any offered add-ons!
Re: your last reply. I’m sorry to hear about your business, but don’t you have a SocMed moderator for that...?
Yes, we do. I will again take responsibilities for not properly delegating in this case.
We have already apologized for the long break we took from updating and provided a look at where the zine is now. We can't go back in time and change the situation, for better or for worse, so for the time being, we will continue to look forward as shipping approaches. Thank you for understanding!
Is there ANY reason for the total radio silence? Not trying to be rude here, but between this and the debacle with the franmaya zine, it makes me wonder if the mods really are competent after all.
Hi there, thank you for your patience.
I (Head Mod Vyn) take responsibility for the radio silence. I have been busy with my IRL job and some things in my personal life, and it's not an excuse; I should have kept a better eye on things. However, as you can see on all of our social media, we posted an extensive update last night with pictures of the merch that has arrived, and an explanation of what is coming next.
Additionally, the mods on this zine have all been a part of other Ace Attorney zines in the past, which have been successfully wrapped up. The mod team is also not the same between all of these zines. I am not on the mod team of the Franmaya zine, so I cannot speak to that, and it has no affiliation with the Lawfully Wedded zine other than sharing some contributors and some mods.
hi :) when do you anticipate the zines will be shipped out?
Hi anon! We're hoping to begin shipping within the next few weeks! We are waiting on the final shipment of our books, as well as some of our other paper merch. All the rest of our merch has arrived and been portioned out into bundles! Once the books and merch arrive and the quality is assessed, we will send out a call for address changes on social media and then begin shipping, first our contributor bundles and then preorders.
Hello. Unfortunately I didn't get the notification that pre-orders were open or closed... TwT Is it still possible to buy the digital version of the fanzine, pretty please?
Hi! So sorry about the delay here, anon! We will open digital zine sales along with our leftover sales! We are not far at all from shipping now, and leftover sales will open once all zine preorders have been distributed and the stock we have, well, left over is assessed. Naturally, we can't sell out of digital versions, so you will be able to buy the zine then!
hello!! approximately what time can we expect results to be sent?
Hi anon! Results have just been sent out!
hi! i was just wondering if we could get a breakdown of how many people applied?
Hi anon!
Sure thing. We had 103 applicants for page artists, 23 applicants for merch artists, and 46 applicants for writers.
Thanks for reaching out!
Hello, I am currently trying to apply as a writer for this zine, and I have questions concerning the way to share our samples. Should our samples be documents shared through a sharing platform or can they be links to AO3? Also, should we anonymize our samples or are you taking care of it before reviewing? Thank you for your answer
Hello anon!
You can share links to AO3, but please be aware that this inherently removes anonymity from your samples, as we are a small team and will not be able to go through and individually anonymize every work. If you would like your works to be anonymous please provide a link to a Google doc with your username removed.
Thank you, and feel free to reach out with any other questions!
Hello, I was wondering about the legal aspects of participating in this zine. Will creators for this zine keep the ownership of their contribution? Will they be allowed to publish it elsewhere after the zine is all sold out? Will they keep the right to use their contributions in other projects, for profit or not?
Hi anon!
To put it simply, yes, you will retain ownership over your own work as much as you can own any fanwork! Once the zine goes to leftover sales, you will be permitted to post your work wherever you like. Additionally, any work created for the zine can be put up for sale by the creator once the project has officially closed and leftover sales are finished. So for example, a merch artist would be more than welcome to add a charm they designed to their personal shop after the zine is no longer available to be purchased.
We hope this answers your question, and thank you so much for reaching out!
hello! could we get an explanation of which characters will be allowed in the NSFW zine?
Hi anon,
Sure! You can also find this answer in our Info Doc! Basically, any character that is over 18 at the current point in Ace Attorney/TGAA canon will be allowed. By "current point," we mean the end of the most recent games, i.e. Spirit of Justice/DGS2.
We hope this answers your question!
Could we know more about the finance/shipping mod’s experience specifically?
Hi anon,
Mod Elle here!
Firstly, I want to thank you for your interest in the project! It means a lot to us as a team that you're invested enough in Lawfully Wedded to want to ensure we'll be good stewards of its finances and assets. I say "we" because, although I am the designated mod for this aspect of the zine, I'm not making any solo decisions. Everything we do will be discussed as a team and handled as a team; I'm just doing that particular part of the legwork!
In the same vein, though my current experience isn't zine-specific, I am fortunate enough to be working with and connected with successful zine mods—and I'm not afraid to lean on those resources! The experience I do have, while not zine specific, has involved managing project finances and working as the primary contact for printers and manufacturer middlemen. I have performed these tasks both in a professional, paid capacity and on the behalf of charitable organizations I've worked with.
I hope this eases your concerns! I'm very excited to be supporting Vyn on this project. I'm grateful for the opportunity to step into the zine scene, as it were, and I couldn't ask for a better team to start with! That said, in order to allow the mod team to focus on questions geared toward applications (I can't believe we're already at the application stage, ahh!), I encourage you to contact me directly via any of my socials, which are listed on the zine's carrd.
Thank you again for reaching out!
Hi there! I want to ask whether making a number of comic pages instead of page art is acceptable? And how many pages the limit for SFW and NSFW? Thank you!
Hi anon; thank you for reaching out!
Comics are absolutely welcome instead of more traditional styles of page art. As for the page limit for those comics, that's a bit more up in the air! We are obviously more limited in print than in in digital, so for that reason, we will probably be able to give longer comic spreads in the NSFW section. We do have a few two-page spreads set aside in the print SFW section, but it's hard to say whether we'd be able to accommodate more than that; it would depend on the interest of other artists in spreads, and how much we can expand our page count. Either way, the mods would be more than willing to work with you on these ideas to help your contribution be the best it can possibly be :)
Thank you again for reaching out!
Hey! For the both SFW & NSFW portions of the zine, I was wondering if trans headcanons for the characters would be allowed? Also are there any guidelines for what will be allowed in the NSFW portion, like strictly vanilla or are consensual kinks allowed? Nothing crazy but they are lawyer's I know they have access to handcuffs
Hi anon! Thanks for reaching out!
Trans headcanons are absolutely welcome, we love seeing people's takes on the characters!
As for NSFW, it's hard to say this with a blanket statement. There's no reason to say we'd disallow kinks, but it will really have to be a more specific case-by-case basis once pitches roll around for those who have been accepted!
Thank you for reaching out, and we hope this answers your question.
Hey! So I noticed that a lot of the mods are contributing to the zine as writers, and I know you said in an earlier ask that you need to be really conscious of how many pages are allocated to writers to contribute to the physical zine for financial purposes. Wouldn't it be more courteous to leave more open spaces for qualified writers who apply rather than people on your mod team? /nm /gen
Hi anon,
Thank you for your question. To begin with, we are already accepting more writers than plenty of zines that do not have as high of a number of writers. With mods and guests, we will have around 10 or 11 writers in the SFW portion of the zine, and that number goes up to 16 or 17 when you include NSFW! That is a very high percentage of writers -- by our estimates now, we think that the zine will end up being divided pretty evenly between writing and art, which is definitely not the norm.
Secondly, our mods are already conscious of this and making allowances for it, including taking NSFW spots instead (since we have a bit more leeway with page count in the NSFW add-on) or being pinch hitters.
Thirdly, this zine is a project we are all running together because we love fandom, and we love to create. For most of us, this most often takes the form of writing. It's a theme that we are all passionate about and that's why we came together to create the zine! In a way, it's a reward to us for doing all of the behind-the-scenes organizing and creating that doesn't show on the outside. (And it's still an effort, so that should say a lot about how much we care about this!)
We hope this answers your question. Feel free to reach out with any further concerns.
Hi! I would love to apply as a contributor when apps open but wanted to ask something first - sorry if it comes across as blunt or rude ^^;;; but as far as I've seen, a zine's ability to fulfil its promises hinge on the financial/shipping mods; I'm aware you're probably reviewing those applications now! :D But wanted to ask if you guys know when they'll be announced and also about what plans you have in place to ensure there are no issues with fund management?
All of the mods so far seem very well-intentioned, competent, and passionate, but I'm nervous about such a key mod not being known yet 😅
Again sorry if this seems rude 🙏 Hoping everything goes smoothly for you all :)
Hi anon, thank you so much for reaching out!
You don't sound blunt or rude at al! We actually have already picked our finance, production and shipping mod and have added their information to our info doc and Carrd. They will receive a mod spotlight as well, which will begin to come out as applications open.
Please rest assured that we received applications from several very well-qualified individuals and they provided their experience to us! We are confident that Elle will do an amazing job given her track record of dependable participation in zines and professional background in areas that will be very helpful as a finance, production, and shipping mod.
Again, thank you for contacting us, and feel free to reach out with any more questions should you need further help or clarification!
