Hi there. I've had this message sitting for a while, and I was always thinking of how best to reply. I'm sorry that it's taken me so long and I hope this answer finds you well.

As much as the website is fairly good for archiving stories, posting and browsing, I didn't mind not being on there. When I watched more and more people gravitate towards it, I didn't find it necessary to follow at first. AO3 was not my primary source for posting my drabbles. I posted them elsewhere and even had a website with my own domain. But since everyone shifted there, I inevitably followed suit. Though I haven't really been taken with the website. It didn't really feel like home. I use it for convenience and because readers are familiar with it. I like the customization, and I've customized my AO3 to my liking, so it's more enjoyable now. I'm also not a big fanfic reader anymore. I hardly do, though I've read a few these days, but not many over the past three years.

Hi love, Thank you for sending this in and asking me. Writing is tough, isn't it? Riddled with so much potential but can cause so much insecurity or anxiety that the fear of that potential never being reached consumes us. It can become a cycle.

For you, as a new writer who is afraid, I would suggest trusting in your idea. You're new, you're exploring things you've never done before, lending a type of novice sense or aura to your writing. And it's your writing and your ideas so far that have been gaining attention because people like them. They're authentically yours and your interpretation of those ideas is yours. No one is able to take that away from you.

Your voice, ideas, creativity all belongs to you. It's hard to ignore the pressure when you feel that everything is going well, but I would encourage you to allow it to slip to the back of your mind, dim the big voice that doubts you and shrink it into a small space. Focus on the story you want to tell. Because writing, at its core, is telling a story. The story you want to tell and how, has nothing to do with those who read it. The readers are there for the ride, but it's a ride in which you steer, direct, create and that can only come from you.

If you allow yourself to fall into self-doubt and insecurity, you'll only convince yourself that it won't be good before even trying. Therefore, stopping yourself from writing. I struggle with this very much until the point that I don't even try. Yet, I have to tell myself that without writing it, I'll never know how it turns out. It helps mostly, but fear is a tricky thing. Because writers care about their stories and want them to do well.

In the face of that fear or worry, keep trying and even if it doesn't do as well as you'd like, know that you gave it your all. That what you've written is something you can be proud of. And if you're proud of it, if you've given everything you can and wrote it to the best of your ability, as of right now, then nothing anyone will say or do will take that away from you. You'll no longer care about it living up to the hype because it lived up to your expectations and you were able to do everything and express everything that you wanted. So focus on you, focus on what you'd like to do, focus on the story you'd like to tell and don't think of anything else.

I think you're doing great already and your ideas, your thoughts have brought you this far, so don't allow the darker thoughts to consume something that has been going well. And if you're worried about your writing or ideas, you can always seek advice, get a second opinion and learn more about writing to develop your skills. Doing so may help you feel more comfortable with writing overall. Also, have fun. As long as you're having fun, nothing else matters.

Life has been a bit rough, actually. There have been highlights, though! Since it is my birthday month, I've been out and this past Saturday I saw Avatar The Last Airbender live in concert with an orchestra and vocalists. It was amazing!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 I definitely recommend going if you loved the show and the music in it.

I'm happy that your albums reached you safely, and I remember your PCs and everything from the precious ask. I love that you're such an avid PC collector. so opposite of me. But it's a pretty cool hobby, so have fun and get those PCs!

I didn't watch much of Chan's live. I'm working through it slowly as I do with all of their lives. I can't sit and watch them straight through since theres too much to do, so I watch them in parts. I adore their bday lives as well! It's always so much fun and silly antics.
