Dazai loser and Chuuya popular in college or high schoooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
I follow you for SKK content and fanfic stuff, but tweets like the one about horses' scandalized neighing are like unexpected but lovely ice cream sprinkles
when do you think you might post the college au? that you did the skk one shot abt hehe :3
hellooo! i went to go attack the ai audiobook person & they updated; it turns out that they’re not actually using ai at all, nor are they feeding fanfic to generative models—it’s just a general text to speech application that’s been rebranded for specific use of fanfic. so it seems like it’s just… the same thing that people have been doing for a while? thoughts? thank you!!
Hiii, yes I saw that and I’m glad that they aren’t using gen AI! I kind of remain hesitant bc I still have some questions but if it really works like a text to speech application, I personally have nothing against for that my fics! Kind of confused why they market it as audible for fics bc that evokes a very different image than a qualitatively better version of text to speech applications, and question how legally doable all of this is but ¯_(ツ)_/ for now I feel better about it than if it was using AI
This is also coming from a fanfic writer and traditional artist.
Respectfully, I’m not interested in hearing your takes on this. There is a reason why ao3 doesn’t have an app and the audiobook app sucks just as much as the other ones. Plus deleting any kind of critical comments from the very people whose work they want to feed to AI says a lot about the creator’s motives and it’s not looking very good
I saw you talking about fanfics being turned into audiobooks. Wouldn’t this be more accessible to those who are legally blind? I think that would be a good thing but also, AI has been around since the start of the internet. It’s just more people are becoming aware of it. AI can also help people who have learning disabilities (and children too) to put a text (preferably news) and for it to come out in a more readable way for them. People always forget that when a new technology comes in, jobs are created too
Legally blind people have ways to read fics with the help of text-to-speech set-ups. Podfics exist too -- aka people who have personally made the effort to record spoken versions of fics. They aren't as common anymore but they do still exist, people still do that, and the fact that podfics ALWAYS, ALWAYS require the permission of the writer is the problem of that app. It operates on the assumption that fics are simply fun little stories who just exist, rather than works that have been written by people. People whose permission you need to get before you turn their fic into a damn audiobook. People who maybe don't want their work to be fed to AI and who don't want to contribute to AIs stealing the jobs of human voice actors and audiobook narrators. I don't know what jobs you are talking about, but it's completely shameless to talk about jobs when the basis of those jobs are free fanfics that were made by fans for fans, not for someone to swoop in and make a business or app out of it. There is a reason ao3 doesn't have an app!!!!!!! Of any kind!!!! And masquerading this app as a tool of accessibility is no less shameless than pretending that AI "art" is a tool for people with disabilities to finally do art by exploiting the work of other people -- a lot of whom also have disabilities and still have found ways to make art without stealing.
Dazai coming half a second after putting it in chuuya bc Chuuya looks so gorgeous
heyy vikkie, I've read alot of your big fics and I love them all so much and I was just curious if you have any favorite lines or dialogues that you've written in your fics? <3
That is a very interesting but hard question for an indecisive bitch like me but! I‘ll try! Generally, I‘m probably proudest of my writing in FTI bc it‘s the hardest I‘ve worked on my style, but some of my favorite stuff hasn’t been posted yet sooo! I also have a very soft spot for YMIM and that scene where skk take a walk and talk in chapter 17 and this quote in particular: “A relationship — because, let’s be honest, that was what we were heading toward — was not only a commitment to you but a commitment to life. To stay alive. To try. And I wasn’t ready for that.” BUT ALSO THIS ONE FROM A ONESHOT I WROTE RECENTLY (For Worse): “It will hurt. You will be miserable.”
Chuuya’s watery eyes flicker up to him, gazing at him with so much naked despair it robs Dazai of his breath. “I had the chance to live a normal, good life with a family who might have loved me for who I am instead of for what I can do, but I am on my knees for you. Is this not misery?”
when it comes to writing heavier themes and mental disorders, how much research do you tend to do? I just feel like you write them very well!
First of all, so sorry for the late response and thank youuu!!!! So it depends, tbh. When it comes to mental disorders I actually don't do that much research bc I either draw on personal feelings and experiences or the what we've already seen in BSD (Dazai's suicidal ideation, depression, alienation, Chuuya's abandonment and lab trauma, etc.). However, when it comes to physical injuries I do a mixture of researching medical And personal perspectives -- at least now!!! I have to admit I have a love and hate relationship with research. I have the tendency to avoid it for as long as possible for some reason bc it just seems like this big monumental task that will take hourssss, but in the end doing research always motivates and inspires me lol idk why my brain works like that but it has happened so many times now ;___; anyway, I hope this answers your question but if not feel free to ask more and I'll try to answer faster this time!!!
hii hope you're doing good!! just wanted to let you know how much i adore FTI, figure skating brain rot going crazy tbh, i'm so happy it's something i could get back into liking through not only soukoku but your amazing writing as well, i find myself so excited for every update, keep up the good work!!<3
Plotwise, which story of yours you find most difficult to write ?
Hmmm, good question! I'd say Finding North. It was a very ... let's say Ambitious plot that I think I could have executed better but the difficulty and complexity of a story with police/government corruption, human experimentation, trauma was just a lot and I ended up rushing it a bit just for the sake of finishing it :") ALIT was challenging too bc the fic was just so big and it was hard to keep it somehow logical and coherent but I loved writing it so much, it didn't feel difficult most of the time!
me wanting to ask what eod skk are up to but then remembering that they’re both dead 😭😣🤣
Hmm the ceating on people with eachother in FTI thats gonna be coming later on reminds me of taemins song 'Guilty' 🤔 Its written about a persons cheating ex from the person who they cheated on's POV and I think that could potentially fit the theme in FTI 🤭🤭 SUUUPER excited by the way your works have me on the floooorr
what are the perfect chase skk doing right now? assuming that they’re out of college or finishing it :)
