hey!! feel free to ignore this if it's too intrusive, but would you mind sharing why you're not on public twitter anymore?
yeah i don't mind and you're not being intrusive at all!! well firstly, i made posts pointing out that horny smut fic of pedo/incest/rape on ao3 written for sexual gratification and to giggle over in the comments about how hot it is and to inflate the author's ego is abhorrent and in no way justified or free of criticism just bc people cream their pants over it, and in no way the same as a piece of writing which earnestly explores dark subjects (which i myself do like to read when it's genuine published literature and not bad fanfiction porn). then the freaks found them (via that crusty bitch bullet, btw you vile cunt if you or your enabler cronies see this i hope you choke and die and your parents find the nasty shit you're into and never pray for you in death) and got me blacklisted for it. they also called me and my friends fags for saying cp is bad but for some reason twitter sniped my account for being CALLED a fag which like.... crazy business but that was the initial reason.
but lowkey even before that i was getting put off by the number of followers i had and being aware of so many people seeing my posts, as well as overall fic culture on twitter. so even if ww3 never occurred i would have retreated to priv eventually, and the main reason for that is, sorry if this sounds mean, but i don't really wish to engage in it? there's a very real fixation on numbers/stats and engagement as well as the expectations that come with mutuals/following other writers to continually be reading and boosting and promoing other fics, which i unfortunately don't really have the bandwidth for, and i'd feel bad for not being able to keep up with the whole positive reinforcement circle in its entirety. i'm good with not making promo posts for my works or having a bigger readership if that's the exchange. i also am pretty nitpicky and have gotten a lot more selective about who i read from bc i've been scorned by finding out writers i used to enjoy are peddling and/or turning a blind eye to the plague of cp/incest and the like, which made me extremely sad to discover.
also, not a fan of how divisive the 'nsfw'/sfw sides of twt have gotten, and how any discussions of rps MUST be done from a separate porn account, even if they're not sexual at all. along w other things like how the censoring defeats its own purpose when censored names and consequently nsfw posts are now easily searchable, how the weird unofficial 'rules' are touted around yet impossible to truly uphold (i wouldn't want minors following me either but 'age in bio or block' doesn't work, kids will lie and you won't know, which i say as a kid who lied about being older on the internet for like a decade, and hounding people over things like that feels more like virtue signalling if anything), the real porn addiction these people have and inability to see a member breathe without coming up with a smut thread, yet refuse to acknowledge etc etc.
so in short, it's just another case of me applying the cardinal fandom rule of only engaging with a few trusted mutuals and officials/update accounts and ignoring the rest of what's going on for the best and tbh only way to truly enjoy it
