Favorite Linux distro (or BSD) and why?

right now i'm on nixos, and it's pretty good - i'm really bad at it and need to figure out how to use flakes, but the declarative config is great. not quite what i want out of a declarative thing, though. for example, i'd like to just be able to use a dotfiles git repo, rather than doing it manually or putting the dotfiles in the nix files (which makes it more difficult to switch to another distro, at least without home-manager).

arch is cool because of its AUR, but i'd prefer something more stable. that being said, it's been a while since i used anything besides arch or nixos, so right now my setup scripts all depend on the AUR (or nixos), cuz again, the AUR is awesome. my favorite "normal" distro is fedora, it's just good all-around, has lots of spins for different DEs/WMs, and i like yum/dnf (besides updating the repo cache) and it's easy to host my own repo too - https://askiiart.net/repos/
