I just wanted to say that I love that ur posting about lesser known mgs in the west like My Magical Girl, Magical Girl Omatsu, Sun & Moon, Where do you find this stuff? And do you plan on posting abt more on Bluesky? I refuse to download Twitter.

Honestly just searching for magical girl in Japanese helps a lot but I also have a few search alerts that help me not to miss any new stuff.

As for Bluesky, yeah, I try to post on both platforms now as equally as I can. The only thing is that I still have a ton more followers on Twitter so the conversation is still bound to be more active there.

How do you think about Ichi the Witch so far? I think it’s neat but I’m a bit wary of the “man protag gets unique powers in a woman-dominated world” trope, what do you think about that?

I like it so far but it’s not as accessible for me here in Japan so I want to wait until I can get volume one before I really form a deeper opinion on this particular matter.

I’m not caught up on Magilumiére but I can’t imagine it ending when it’s so successful and has an adaptation

do you know why did precure started releasing lotss of acrylic stands in 2018? before that the cures barely had 2 of these, but during that year they releasing more and more every couple of months, did the popularity of the acrylics increased during that time?

Do you think uranus enforced beauty or social standard

I’m assuming this is in response to me saying magical girls generally enforce beauty standards.

Uranus did a lot for queer kids, but it’s important to acknowledge that Japanese parents complained about her relationship to Neptune, and there are many instances where she is made to be more feminine in the story. She also does not appear for very long in the overall story.

Hello! I would like to ask a question regarding Smile PreCure. I saw a Reddit post that posted screencaps stating that the 2012 PreCure series was originally planned to be a solo show, with only one Cure similar to Cutie Honey and Cardcaptor Sakura. Was this actually stated anywhere at one point, in a book or interview? I've skimmed through the Japanese wikipedia page for the show but I haven't seen anything that would support this statement.

I believe this is something that was confirmed in an interview, though I don’t recall which one. It’s something that has been known among Japanese fans since that time.

Putting aside that he’s a king shitposter, he apologized for the joke he made last year if that’s what you’re referring to.

I understand if that wasn’t enough for you, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he is a transphobe when reviewing the full situation. That’s just my opinion though.
