What animals did you seem to be scared of at first, but learning them more made you love them?

Anon-sense · 6d

what translation work you've done so far that took longest/shortest?

Longest is definitely Boyish2, shortest… probably one of the smart phone games I worked on where the work was mostly phrases out of context lol

Have you considered making a strawpage once retrospring shuts down?? People can send questions there but also doodles, it's very fun! And as a plus you can personalize it too like carrd

I’m a little hesitant to do that because of the weirdos I get, I’d prefer to stick to text only

do you know why did precure started releasing lotss of acrylic stands in 2018? before that the cures barely had 2 of these, but during that year they releasing more and more every couple of months, did the popularity of the acrylics increased during that time?

Do you think uranus enforced beauty or social standard

I’m assuming this is in response to me saying magical girls generally enforce beauty standards.

Uranus did a lot for queer kids, but it’s important to acknowledge that Japanese parents complained about her relationship to Neptune, and there are many instances where she is made to be more feminine in the story. She also does not appear for very long in the overall story.

Hello! I would like to ask a question regarding Smile PreCure. I saw a Reddit post that posted screencaps stating that the 2012 PreCure series was originally planned to be a solo show, with only one Cure similar to Cutie Honey and Cardcaptor Sakura. Was this actually stated anywhere at one point, in a book or interview? I've skimmed through the Japanese wikipedia page for the show but I haven't seen anything that would support this statement.

I believe this is something that was confirmed in an interview, though I don’t recall which one. It’s something that has been known among Japanese fans since that time.

have you ever translated the precure picture books, or plan to?

I’d translate everything PreCure put out into the universe if I could get compensated for it :)

I heard that there's a messenger very similar to retrospring called Neospring in case you don't want to use tellonym.

Are you aware Lil Nas X is a transphobe?

Putting aside that he’s a king shitposter, he apologized for the joke he made last year if that’s what you’re referring to.

I understand if that wasn’t enough for you, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he is a transphobe when reviewing the full situation. That’s just my opinion though.

did you see what bluesky changed in their tos and what they're doing to palestinian accounts there? https://x.com/midtowncowboys/status/1857132632590741915

Yes and I invite you to show me a social media service that is viable as a content creator and hasn’t been accused of suppression

have you met anyone who "came back" to precure later in life? like in high school or college age

I don’t know every fan ever but my experience with older PreCure fans is they’re either only focused on the seasons they watched as a kid, or they get into one season as it currently airs and stop paying attention after that. Honestly most PreCure fans only like a few seasons.

just saw ur tweet stating that ur permanently leaving twitter at the end of this month. Will you be active on tumblr as well or just on bluesky and instagram?/genq

I have an account for the podcast that I’d like to bring back to life to go along with the podcast Bluesky

But personally I will not be back really. Tumblr is the only social media platform I ever needed to go to therapy for and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from that :)

Silly question but is the magical girl genre’s idea to uplift young girls and empower women in a positive light?

The genre is predominantly about selling merchandising to little girls and enforcing feminine beauty and social standards which is why Japanese feminists tend to be against it, but there can be empowering storytelling despite that
