what do you think about how sccbin is treated by moas at large?
Okay, my answer is a bit confusing to ME so I’ll try to articulate as best as I can 😭 I think in a lot of kpop fandoms there is an overarching perception of who an idol is and whenever they deviate from expectation there are subsets of people who react negatively to that bc that isn’t the idol they “know”. However, Soobin is interesting bc a lot of people seem to have an idea of who is that isn’t reflective of how he acts, speaks, or represents himself at all and is instead more of projection of a borderline toxic 2 dimensional contemporary romance love interest. And like there’s nothing wrong with that per se, especially when working within the realm of fiction. Like it’s fiction - we’re making shit up - but then there’s just so much vitriol for him when he just breathes funny beat another member bc it must mean he’s jealous or homophobic or he hates them and none of that makes sense with the sides of himself he’s shown us. I blame a lot of that perception in how hr was marketed in early years as the “boyfriend” or “kdrama male lead”. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy those concepts (bc I did) but I do think now when people call him princess or the members refer to him as the mom of the group fans get genuinely upset. Of course, similar things happen with other members, too. This isn’t unique to Soobin. However, the part where people get mad at him for not falling into his little 2 dimensional box seems to be though.
