i like them a lot. they're so weird. sorry if this answer is super long but i'm really hyped for more feixiao content next patch given i've been anticipating her ever since her backstory implications leaked! & i very much enjoyed jiaoqiu this patch,,, it's like if instead of a love triangle you constructed yourself a mortality triangle,,, world's most fucked up polycule :). feixiao has made herself a weapon, there's this almost grim sort of morbid acceptance of her mortality, and yet she ends up indulging the other two (For Some Reason).. plus there's this curious slant towards vitality,, like an aspect of her which revels in her own life. she says she's not arrogant & then calls herself the "lacking general" in an almost arrogant (and artificial) dialogue,, she is NOT lacking in worries. strange contradictions,,, side note i really enjoy the way the two retainers scamper around the luofu for her & whine about it regardless LMAO it's like she's sending her wives around to do her bidding. you can smell this morbid domesticity on them (negative).
jiaoqiu is extra weird in the mortality triangle because he actively ignores his own life, even when thrust into danger, values hers because he projects his trauma onto it. there's a bit of brainrot i have about the way <him becoming hoolay's slave> can be read as (1) relocating harm — what feixiao had to endure and (2) god the amount of casual disregard for his own life there. even the way moze acts about it echoes this and then you cut to fei and she doesnt gaf about her own either but he [in the consumable prescription readable] is sooo over attentive. thinking about the trailer,, all so much meat. cooking as a cycle of transformative life & death -- the implications of him wanting to kill the borisin for her. i think we need to call him names.
moze is also really fun;; we have precious little of him but he reinforces jiaoqiu's not caring for his life by affirming JQ's values & not caring for it either (aiding his self sacrificial instincts),,, like oh wow you are totally playing into this pathetic fox's worst impulses... but moze does, unlike both jiaoqiu & fei's flavours of fucked up, seem to care for his Own life though as he says & theres an implication of a twisted dynamic with fei in the splash art. i'm immensely curious about this in conversation with the newest moze lore leaks (if you've seen them) and the strale he's clutching in his e6. there's also this odd way JQ treats moze. i want to say an interesting sense of distance? not disdain but something similar.. its intriguing especially in the lore leak context... i feel like it's also a reflection of himself as a [retainer] as well ,, & yet moze calls him "friend"!!? ++ if you look at his moment among the stars trailer the imaginings he has of fei has moze by her side and not him. we need to kick him sorry. sorry. i've been thinking about kicking him all week.
