Who's Robin's love interest and what does he like in a partner? :3
He has multiple love interests! my PRIMARY canon partner for him is Aurora (his co-wol), but I haven't forgotten about G'raha either!! Robin has two hands! He has canon children with both of them, actually :> Estinien is another more lowkey one but they have a funny connection and a lot of interesting parallels. And a couple of friend's wols, too!
What Robin truly likes in a partner is just someone being their truest most genuine self; it's something he really respects in a person, that in turn he himself can learn to be vulnerable around... Someone who makes him feel like he doesn't have to keep one of his many masks up, and can help him rediscover who HE truly is as a person, rather than the many people he has to try to be. And they have to be able to make him laugh- that's a huge one! It's probably far easier to make him laugh than his general vibe might suggest.
Out of all the au’s you’ve made with Robin and Aurora, which one is your current favorite and why? Is there one you’ve made into a canon timeline?
RUBS MY HANDS TOGETHER. I'd have to say woleverse is my current favorite au... Robin just gets to have such a fascinating character deterioration arc as a Garlean-captured experiment-turned-weapon, manipulated and brainwashed by Aulus mal Asina into hunting down the Warrior of Light (his childhood best friend, Aurora ;)), but then realizes everything was orchestrated by the Ascians and just goes rogue... until he grapples with his complex feelings towards Aurora and, how Rora never truly saw him as an enemy -- just as, someone who was scared and angry and lost -- and always just wanted him to come back home.
Robin has to deal with the consequences of his actions and all the crimes he committed, believing himself unworthy of atonement. And yet, Aurora would never give up on him. With Aurora's gentle guidance and acceptance, Robin gets to have his little rollercoaster of a villain-turned-antihero-turned-redeemed hero arc and he falls so deeply in love it makes him look stupid (positive). This one isn't a canon timeline, though! Because Aurora is Azem in this one instead of Robin-
Toxic AU on the other hand follows the same basic principle of Robin getting captured by Garleans and turned into a living weapon by Aulus and co (as the blueprint for both project Resonant AND the Black Rose), but this time Aurora gets captured with him :) It's a fun little play on "the ONE timeline where they get to grow up together and Robin was never exiled, but it still ends Horribly because they are both marked by fate for a tragic end no matter what." THIS one gets to be a canon timeline <3 It ends with them managing to escape Castrum Abania finally, but Aurora is just too weak to make the trip back to the Shroud without life support and dies in Robin's arms... that's the tl;dr of it, but I can yap more about it in detail another time hehe
I'd love to know more about Robin's brothers if you don't mind sharing about them!
Of course! Nezha'a (nickname: Neenu) is the eldest and more closely resembles the Hrothgar side of his lineage than his younger brothers, but he is perhaps the softest of the three. He was forced to grow up from a young age when he suddenly found himself without parents and with two younger siblings to take care of, but he's deeply loving and caring and protective to a fault. He's a big pacifist, and is an omnicrafter and botanist who takes jobs from the various crafting and gathering guilds across Eorzea, delivering goods and materials wherever needed!
Nezha'to (nickname: A'to) on the other hand got stuck with Middle Child Syndrome. He was never quite the magic prodigy like Robin was, nor was he ever seen as reliable and kindhearted as Nezha'a. He eventually ran away to seek purpose elsewhere, and found himself in Garlemald's clutches, his drive to learn and innovate healing and medicine quickly catching the eye of imperial scientist Aulus mal Asina, who accepted him as a personal assistant for his experiments in aether manipulation. Nezha'to is... complicated, and pushes his emotions aside for the sake of logic and personal gain, even when discovering his little brother had become the famed Warrior of Light and a thorn in the empire's side, directly threatening his status and position as a scientist who had finally been recognized and taken seriously for his work. (He was very emotionally vulnerable and therefore an easy target for the empire to take advantage of lol)
(Robin and Nezha'a both remember Nezha'to being sweet at times, though... he was very helpful to his older brother and very protective of his little sibling, as annoying as he claimed he was. Years of pent up anger and resentment and jealousy just... made him snap, one day.)
What’s typically Robin’s go-to’s as far as clothing goes? Does he have color preferences? Are there very specific things he looks for in clothing pieces that he can’t go without? (Ie: breathable neck area, tail holes, etc.)
Oh he HAS to wear outfits that are on the lighter side and are easy to move around in; the less fabric restricting his movements, the better (he likes having chest and thigh windows in particular). It's quite difficult to fit his big fluffy tail through most standard tail holes, so he'll usually just wear low-cut bottoms so he can simply slip his tail out from under his tops in casual and active wear. For formal occasions he has plenty of dresses and gowns tailor-made for his particular... shape. Blacks and pinks and occasionally reds are most common in his wardrobe, though he enjoys ornate colorful patterns as a compliment! Gold is his main accent color of choice, whether as accessories, jewelry, or embroidery.
What is Robin's relationship with Bahamut and Tiamat?
AHEM, for some backstory... Way back in the Third Astral Era, Robin's soul resided in Soph Ahm, an ancient Meracydian miqo'te who was found by Bahamut as an abandoned kit, and was raised as part of his and Tiamat's brood. Bahamut would eventually gift a large amount of his aether to Soph before falling in battle. Soph has his OWN story, which encompasses his journey to aid the people of Meracydia in summoning their eikons to arm themselves against the invading Allagan Empire, but for now what we need to know is that the original Soph was eventually captured by Allag and kickstarted the events of the Fourth Umbral Calamity. Before the Crystal Tower was swallowed by the earth, Desch (who Soph grew to trust) escaped with an Allagan clone pod containing a genetic copy of Soph made by Amon, infused with dragon blood and all, which ended up safely in Corvos. This clone would awaken some centuries later and continue Soph's dragon-touched bloodline.
skip ahead 5,000 or so years and Soph's soul is reborn as Robin, who ALSO happens to be a distant blood descendant of the aforementioned clone. This grants him easy access to Bahamut's aether and all the dreadwyrmy goodness (and destruction) that comes with it :) Tiamat senses something familiar about Robin, as well as this strange connection to his aether; upon having a revelation in Paglth'an, she comes to see him as her child, just as Soph was.
tl;dr: Robin sees Tiamat as a motherly figure and the key to explaining some of his inherited burdens, but his relationship with Bahamut is a bit more complicated. The Dreadwyrm's power has been one of those aforementioned burdens on him since he was a wee lad, and has caused much damage to himself and those around him. But they're chill now
Have you had to change either of their lores die to new story content?
I haven't had to really drastically change anything, BUT! New story content has helped me further develop their lore and character arcs -- Soph's especially, with all the new revelations about Meracydia and Tiamat's brood and the war against Allag in the third astral era. Soph has been getting fed since 5.5 and I love that for him
Your lineart is so pretty. You have awesome line weights too. How long did it take you to get so good at it and do you have any brushes you recommend?
wehhh thank you!! idk how long it took me to get "good" because I'm always trying to improve, but I've been making lineart-centric art professionally for like... 11 years, if that gives an idea.
as for brushes, I like to change mine up every so often depending on the vibe of the piece I'm working on. I've been using Procreate for the past couple years, so it's a mix of default brushes and this one custom inking brushpack that I found for free off gumroad I think. for example I switch between Procreate's technical pen and studio pen for smooth lines, and then from the GvW Ink pack I use Elder P4 for thicker textured lines (think like a calligraphy brush) or the Pentaliner Ink 2.1 for more pencil-like lines.
Did Robin go through major changes appearance or lore wise as you were creating them at first?
Appearance-wise, when I was first developing him, he used to have more platinum blonde-ish hair as opposed to his current white with pink undertones, and used to be a Seeker. He also had less fluff, which I can't imagine him without now... He's always had his dreadwyrm scars however, but they were much less prominent back then--just wing-shaped burn scars across his back that were easily covered up. Now they're much more intricate and spread across his entire body, but that's tied into his lore as well
Speaking of lore... his changes were interesting. He was originally just a placeholder Lightwarden!WoL for my gang of Norvrandt characters to save in this altered-First-timeline I was writing for them... then I wrote him more and grew to really like him and wanted to develop him further. What started out as an AU written for pre-existing OCs turned out to be Robin's canon LMAO who woulda thought
I knew since the early days of his conception that he was to grow up in Kugane, having been adopted by a Lalafell and raised in Hingan culture, but I hadn't thought much about his origins in the Shroud until I figured out his biological family, and then his tie-ins to Third Astral Era Meracydia--both in spirit and ancestry--and the dragon blood-infused Allagan clone of which he and his brothers are distant descendants of... he's come a long way from just being my "player avatar" for sure
Does Robin ever pick out outfits for G'raha? If so what kind of style does he put G'raha in? Do they ever match?
What would Robin look like as a viera?
How did Robin and Aurora meet?
Would Robin drink all the cutesy seasonal Starbucks drinks or does he have a particular order?
What’s Robin’s favorite thing to snack on?
