Sorry for possibly spreading FUD, but does this thread from Yuniko sensei kind of imply leaving the (Ave)MyGO team? No retweets for recent AveMyGO news either (in contrast with Given). I just saw speculation from jpn fan tweets so this might be nothing, but it's kind of worrying
i’ve been sitting on this message for a couple of weeks now because i really wasn’t sure what to do with it. honestly, i’m still not sure if answering it is the way to go because i don’t want to inspire panic and/or unfounded speculation, but i wanted to respond to it, especially because i’ve been thinking about it a lot.
after receiving this message and looking into things, for reasons both mentioned in this question as well as others, i do think that, at the very least, yuniko-sensei’s involvement w avemygo/bandori moving forward will be p different from what it has been thus far. i am not exaggerating when i say that the feelings i felt upon this realization were of the same intensity i had when amita announced her retirement, save for with a deep layer of anger (not directed towards her). it’s not just that yuniko-sensei put her everything into it’s mygo and created such a deeply affecting and genuine masterwork; it’s that she’s always been an essential part of bandori to me (and so many others). i knew and enjoyed popipa before s1, but watching that (along w the lives and getsubushi tv lol) is what really made me fall in love with them and bandori as a whole. yuniko-sensei was at the helm then too. i can’t even imagine bandori without her. i don’t want to.
those feelings are still largely in tact. i don’t know why she is/seems to be leaving when she seems to care so much, and we probably never will, at least not entirely. my gut instinct (and inspiration for my anger) was that b*shi screwed her over somehow, and i definitely do not want to be an apologist for them or rule that out entirely. that being said, if there’s one thing b*shi likes to do, it’s to stick with the same collaborators/creative talents, and based on things she said around the finale, it seems like this was in the works for a while, so i don’t think this is a decision that was made fairly recently (not that that would mean she couldn’t have been mistreated still).
as far as looking to the future, i would be lying if i said this possibility/probability didn’t give me great pause. part of me has wondered if i could even enjoy things moving forward. however, as remarkable and important as yuniko-sensei and her contributions have been, she is still only one member of the team, all of whom were firing on all cylinders for it’s mygo (and avemygo in general). assuming the rest of the creative team remains largely the same, i will be cautiously optimistic for what we have coming up. i get the sense that yuniko-sensei is very proud of mygo, ave mujica, and her entire team’s efforts; i want to keep supporting them as a way to honor all the love and hard work that’s been put into everything thus far from both her and everyone else who is a part of making something so special.
