Hi! Is there a recommended min/max number of works to include in the portfolio?
Our recommended minimum for portfolio's would be 2-3, depending on the number of samples you submit, but there is no maximum!

Hi! I noticed on the guidelines linked in the application form that for artists, there's info about spot art but there's no mention of the role in the actual application. Is there an option to express interest in doing spot art or will that only be done after being able to match artists and writers?
Hello! If accepted, you will be asked whether or not you would like to participate as a spot artist along with your main piece, meaning that you would be creating your main piece as well as a spot art piece or two for a writer you are paired up with.

hello, is it alright to submit a writing sample depicting other ships besides mlm/bl caelus ships or other mlm ships from hsr that do not include caelus? i was just wondering if there was a restriction or content that mods would not like to see. thank you!
Yes, that's alright! We don't have any restrictions, as long as NSFW and potentially triggering subjects are given the proper content warnings, but other ships would not fall into these categories for the mod team.

Hello, can the writing samples be excerpts from a long fic or do they have to be complete within the word limit?
Samples can be excerpts from a longer fic, but we would like to see at least one sample that is its own standalone fic within the word count limit!

The guidelines mention that nsfw writing samples “can” be 2k to 3k. Does that mean a 1.5k nsfw work would not be allowed as a sample? Or is it only that they can be longer than sfw works but the minimum is the same? Thanks!
The "can" is there for wiggle room. We want to know that you can write within our requirements for the zine, but if your samples are only just a little off then that's ok too! What we don't want is all of your samples being over 5k or all under 1k if this makes sense.

Hi! Is it necessary to have experience in having made completed physical merch before?
For example, stickers don't have a template or anything (just dimension guidelines and stuff), so is it enough to have designed stickers before, or the final product experience is also required?
No, having made physical merch already isn't a requirement, we just want to see that you can design a merch item!

Can artists password-protect their portfolio? (like include the pw in the app for mods to access, or)
Yes, as long as it can be accessible to our mod team we will accept a password-protected portfolio!

Hi! Will both the sfw and nsfw zines be physical or will the nsfw be digital only?
Due to changes in tariffs and a diverse merch lineup, we aren't able to definitively say whether or not the NSFW zine will be offered in a physical format. We aren't saying that it won't be, but we also aren't saying that it will be, sorry for the lack of an answer at this time!

Are artists allowed to draw same ship as others? Or is it has to be only one pick
Artists will be allowed to create art for the same ship as another artist, but we will be prioritizing having a wide range of ships, so contributors will be required to pitch ideas for more than one ship. The same goes for writers as well!

Yes that's fine! But you may also submit the design itself instead of an image of the physical merch item, since we only want to see that you've worked with merch before and what your abilities to design within those templates may be.

Are we allowed to apply as a collab pair/team for the zine?
Yes, but if you are applying as a team ONLY, then you will only be accepted if the both of you are accepted. If you are applying as a team but are willing to be a solo creator if your partner isn't accepted, please let us know in your applications.

Are SFW and NSFW zine apps the same application or can I only apply for the nsfw zine?
They are the same application! You can apply for either position or both on the application forms (aside from merch applications).

While there is no set age for the trailblazer, how would the team handle the inclusion of Yanqing? Will he be allowed in the NSFW zine (considering he is meant to be around 13-14......)?
As per our more detailed guidelines (to be posted), any depictions of minors is not allowed in the NSFW zine. So Yanqing and other canonically minor characters will not be included in the NSFW zine!

will follower count matter? I see some zines say it doesn't but they all have famous artists in their lineup 😭
Follower count will NOT be something we evaluate for applications! It is understandable to feel that it will, but we will never be looking at follower count to make a final decision.
