i think that would be the first time he ever wanted to put his hands on someone. i think the desire to hit someone would be a surprising and uncomfortable thing for philip, who prides himself in being refined and put together. ultimately he probably wouldn’t harm anyone but he probably blacklists that friend from events and parties. when he brings it up to henry, it’s probably years down the road in their journey of rebuilding their relationship, when they’re both older and a little wiser. philip apologizes for the first time in his life—a prince who was handed everything he ever wanted begging for forgiveness from his little brother. henry hugs him in response.

omg i have so much to say about the failed brotherhood trope and i’m so glad someone asked. i love how divided henry and philip are on their different perspectives of their dad. henry thinks their dad to be a saint and philip thinks him to be a sinner. philip actively pushes away everything his dad stands for (freedom, normalcy, love) and henry embraces it wholeheartedly. henry rejects the crown and philip clings to it with everything he has. they’re both completely different characters but they’re bound by the same last names and even THAT means different things to them. for philip, henry sharing the last name “mountchristen-windsor” means that henry has to share the burden of the crown, to uphold the royal family legacy, to have responsibility. for henry, philip sharing the last name “fox” means that they are brothers and they should love one another. when philip doesn’t support him and actively rebukes their dad, henry sees that as a form of rejection of their brotherhood. when henry makes the choice to stand with alex and not the crown when he’s outed, philip sees that as a form of rejection of their brotherhood as well. they were doomed from the start i fear
