im maybe not the best person to ask this. most of the time i feel like i stumbled into my position by complete accident. ive actually been posting my art on the internet for a very long time now and no one really seemed to care. and about two years ago, seemingly out of nowhere, something shifted and people suddenly started paying attention to me. ive been honestly struggling to unpack that and untangle that this whole time, because my life, my art, and my relationship to my art has changed drastically in a relatively short amount of time. i guess if i can give one piece of advice it's just to keep going, keep making art that makes you happy. even when it feels like no one cares just do it anyway, making art that makes you happy is more important than legitimacy, or attention, or whatever. anyway this answer is probably too long, bye.
