the world of dreamyard takes place thousands of years in the future after humanity was nearly wiped out. this means some areas live in more medival-like areas, whilst others live in more futuristic areas. xbou, for example, lives in color city, which is one of the largest cities that rely on electricity to run. color city consists of primarily robots, preformers and ai!

but as for another example, goober and spud live in a village thats secluded inside of the forest. since dreamyard consists of multiple species brought together, each different species live different lifestyles! since the village spud and goober reside in are primarily animals, they don't really focus on electricity let alone have any electronics. spud has a laptop and phone because he used to live in more public areas like towns, and goober shares these things with him.
