what is the ideal set-up for granvelle castle, though? i. e., characters/skills/items to bring?

AH sure lemme go thru it :3

full disclosure b4 we start a lot of the information i’ve given here is likely also in This (https://tsuchidaruma.dreamwidth.org/8374.html) guide because it is what taught me how to use granvelle castle effectively in the first place LOL so if my explanation is too confusing (and it can be hard to understand without pictures) i’d recommend reading that instead. but i think my method has deviated from theirs some in the time i’ve been using it, + that guide is for all-999 which is the old chibi limit, so. basically just go with what works for u best

BUT TO BEGIN the most important thing for granvelle castle is that u have at least 4 wizards with the card skill “at the start of a new round, there’s a chance of adding 50 points to [their attribute]”. this is important because consistently getting all-1200 at granvelle requires the player to bring along 3 big cookies (the ones with the faces and the blue filling) which multiply any attribute gains by 6, turning that 50+ points into 300. this also means you need all of your wizards to consist of different attributes so the point distribution is even — that means one passion card, one happiness card, one relaxation card, one coolness card, and one pride card. i personally like bringing as many cards with a “great success” chance boost as their secondary skill, because this helps raise points a lot faster + gives out traits, usually gold ones, which are hard to obtain otherwise if ur cards aren’t lvl 100, and raise your chibis overall power level. having at least one card with a stamina boosting secondary skill is ideal, though — this is why i was very excited to get anni5 murr, because his skill combo is “at the start of a new round, there’s a chance of adding 50 points to coolness” + “when 3 or more members of your party interact, there’s a chance your stamina will be raised accordingly” which is a Really good skill combo for the granvelle method specifically. this is what makes doing this method so hard, though, because it’s difficult to guarantee you’ll have the very specific combination of card skills and attributes needed… if you’re trying to make a specific chibi then i’d recommend filling the fifth slot in your party with someone else’s card of the chibi you’re trying to make — i’m making an all-christmas-mithra team, for example, so i have someone else’s lvl 100 christmas mithra card in the fifth slot. now, that card hasn’t got a 50 point boost skill, but that’s where having those great success skills comes in handy, and i’ll explain why below

to summarise so far:
bring 5 cards of different attributes. have at least 4 of them give you 50+ to their attribute points at the start of a round. have at least 3 of them with the great success secondary skill. ideally have 1 with a stamina-boosting secondary skill, but it is possible to do this without, just more difficult. have the card you need in your fifth slot if you’re trying to make a specific chibi, or otherwise just fill that slot with another 50+ point bonus skill card

an important thing to know about granvelle castle also is the mechanic of the location itself: once 5 wizards have interacted with your party leader, it allows you to raise the level of an attribute by a certain amount. this is useful because the higher the level is, the more points you’ll gain in that area while training. it also simultaneously raises the friendship meter between your party members and leader, which makes activating their skills easier. this is another reason why bringing along 1 wizard of each attribute is important: you can only raise the attribute level of the wizard associated with the attribute, so if you have a team without a passion card for example you won’t be able to use granvelle castle’s gimmick to level passion up At All. anyway with that all said:

  • start training! during round one you’ll want to focus primarily on using the location gimmick as much as possible in order to get affection up quick and have your attributes decently levelled. this mostly just comes down to how lucky you get with the interaction rate

  • once round 2 starts, you’ll want to try and build up attribute points rather than use the location gimmick. that being said, high affection makes it more likely for your party members to give you the 50+ bonus at the start of a round, and more likely to make their great success skills activate, so it’s not a bad idea to use the gimmick once or twice still. by the end of round 2 you should ideally have all your attributes around level 4

  • round 3 is the most important round, and therefore the one where you have to pay the most attention. atp you shouldn’t need to use the location gimmick at all — just focus on getting your attribute points up. ideally by the end of round 3 you should have them all at an A-rank, S-rank if you’re REALLY lucky. once you get to turn 2 of round 3, you NEED your stamina to be in a good place — if it’s low, rest. if it’s middling, better to rest as well. if it’s full or close to full… use your better judgement on whether or not you think you need to rest or not. if you have a card w a stamina-boosting skill with you that can come in clutch, but it’s safer not to gamble on it. once you hit turn 1 of round 3, IMMEDIATELY use all three of your big biscuits. remember when i mentioned earlier that you can get away with only having 4 50+ skill cards so long as you have multiple cards with great success skills? well, here’s where that comes in handy: big biscuits give a huge boost to attribute point scoring, and if you can get one of the great success skill cards to activate during this final turn, it’ll more than likely make up for the 300 point boost it’ll miss out on afterwards. because christmas mithra is a pride-attributed card, i always use my final turn on pride, which typically fills up completely if i get lucky with the great success skills

  • once you’ve done the above, round 3 will end and round 4 will start. if you’ve done everything so far correctly, then your 50 point bonuses should turn into 300 point bonuses, which ideally should bring your attributes around the middle of an S+ rank. now all that’s left is to train until every bar is full!

andddd that’s it LOL with any luck it’ll have worked out and you’ll have the all-1200 chibi you desired. there’s a lot to it all and i don’t know if i explained it very well, but i hope it helps u even a little bit JDBSJXN
