My first instinct is to put a disclaimer that I am going the anime route of making Mitsu a teenager at the start of ARR cause making her any older is weird to me and also she’s somewhere on the gray spectrum and is generally disinterested in people in general so romance isn’t and has never been a big part of her stories.

If you’re asking in terms of shipping, Mitsu’s only other valid option is Alphinaud since her other options are either 1) much older than her, 2) too toxic that’ll cause eventually lead her to a terrible and premature end, or 3) all of the above but she has complicated feelings towards him and personality wise, she’s grown to appreciate Alisaie more than her brother. I’d say her relationship with not only Alisaie but also Alphinaud have been a big part of her development throughout the expansions, though I am not afraid to admit my bias towards them hasn’t been an influence too.

If you want an actual reason that’s not just me trying to justify why I ship her with my daughter, it was literally out of nowhere. I had no desire to ship Mitsu with anyone initially since I didn’t care too much about the game by SB. I liked Alphinaud based on his design alone but wasn’t too invested in him or his sister along with rest of the characters except for like…Yotsuyu.

It’s not till like probably 4.4 years when I finally started paying attention to the story and seeing the whole Titan disaster thing made me feel some sort of way. Seeing Alisaie and Mitsu in that one cutscene was what initially got me thinking “ok ok they cute ig”

and then 4.5 hit and suddenly I sold my soul to the wolship and this stupid MMO and now I spent a good chunk of my time dedicated to writing lore not just for Mitsu or Mutsu or Andrea but basically making A WHOLE GODDAMN UNIVERSE IN MY TINY BRAIN OF MINE

TL DR; I didn’t want this life. This life is keeping me hostage.
