hello! is this event open to all ships and characters (f/f ofc) or is it only limited to genshin characters? sorry i just saw this and am interested in joining if i can for my fandom heh
absolutely! this is a multifandom event! anything is allowed, so long as you are not working with a character played by a child actor or any form of RPF.
as a general note: as i posted on the twitter account, please read the event rules prior to asking questions on here. it'll save us both time! the answers to most common questions are probably already addressed there, such as this one. thank you!!
Are original works and works based around OCs allowed? I know it's mainly for established fandom but I'm in OC hyperfixation rn.
And the event prompts would be so good for my gals 👀
absolutely!!! please feel free to create content for this event with ocs, that's very much encouraged 🙏🙏
helloo. are xreader fics alright? with a female reader of course.
absolutely!! so long as the reader insert isn't male (so gender neutral reader inserts are fine too), it's all good!
how late can the maximum date of submissions be after the dead dove sapphic week ends?
i don't have a super strict cut-off date in mind as of right now, but i plan to stick around on this account for at least 1-2 weeks after the event is over... so i'd say try to get any late works in by April 23rd 🙏
Hello! Can we add our works to two collections? Like the official dd week collection and something like "X's sapphic dead dove week 2023"? Just to keep an archive on our acounts too!
Yes, that's absolutely fine!!
Hello! I was putting my work into my AO3 drafts to get them ready and didn't realise it submits the drafts to the collection too, is that fine or should I hold off?
That's totally fine, yes, go ahead and submit any drafts to the collection! I will approve them once the event starts and I see the work has been officially published.
So I noticed that it said that nonbinary and trans headcanons are allowed which is awesome! But I just wanted some clarification: If I have a character who is Genderfluid can I still have them be in a piece? Just asking because it can sometimes lead to them identifying as male - it wouldn't be the case in the pic itself obviously, but I just wanna be sure.
Yes, that's fine! Genderfluid characters are fine so long as within the piece itself, there is no point where they are being portrayed as a man. Fluctuating between being a woman or any other kind of nonbinary identities within the work is all totally good, though!
Can I only participate in English? I mean, it's not my first language but I thought I could make something with it, and now it turns out... It's quite hard for me
Or... I guess I shouldn't use tag then?
No, you definitely don't have to use English for the event! You can participate using any language you wish, so long as you still follow all the other rules and the posting guidelines.
Just to clarify: I can genderbend a "straight" ship to make it go from F/M to F/F?
Yes, as long as you're portraying it as a sapphic ship, it's fine!
About the child actor thing: does that include HP characters if it's set AFTER the movies ended (so post war)? cause obviously they were played by kids at first, but they were adults by the end of the series.
Yes, as long as you're strictly depicting events set after the characters in question had 18+ actors, that will be fine for this event!
just curious, which day of the dead dove sapphic week the mod is looking forward to the most?
I'm really excited for each day, but I'm probably most excited to see what everyone comes up with for possession on day 1 and coercion on day 5! Thank you for asking 🙏
hello, is it ok if i crosspost my submission of art when the dead dove sapphic week happens on twitter and ao3? or can i only submit it to one platform? ty!
You're more than allowed to post your submission to both platforms, so long as you follow the criteria for posting both (on ao3, post to the collection, and on twt, @ the event acc and add the hashtag #ddsapphicweek)! On a similar note, participants are welcome to crosspost submissions to any other platforms (ie tumblr), so long as they also post the submissions to twitter or AO3 so I can boost the submission!
First, I would like to say thank you for organizing this event, and that I'm looking forward to it!
I'm a bit worried some of my works don't qualify as dead dove though... How do you know what you're writing is "dead dove"?
Thank you anon!! 🙏 "Dead dove" refers to dark stories that warrant content warnings when shown to general audiences, as they are centered around problematic, upsetting or potentially triggering content. In the case of this event, you'll probably be fine so long as the content you create focuses on the given themes of the days you work with! You're welcome to make content as "mild" or as "extreme" as you like, so long as it's still dark and fits to the day's theme.
If you're truly worried about your content not being considered "dead dove," you're also always welcome to DM the event account on twitter! I'd be more than happy to discuss any concepts you're working with there!
