Your thread was informative and all, especially for new people, but it's not encompassing of all play? I've been playing for years and I've been with professionals and let me tell you, I'm the most comfortable when I get regular check-ins, especially if we're doing something new and something more intense. Just because YOU don't like to see it in fic doesn't mean it's not how things are and while in some cases it could mean the dom doesn't trust their sub, it could be for the SUBS comfort.
this is super fair, and I really appreciate the feedback and perspective! I didn't mean to encompass all play with that thread, and if lots of explicit check-ins are part of an agreed upon negotiation, that's awesome! I was mostly responding to a trend I'd noticed where it felt like these check-ins were only put in as lip service, without an understanding of why either party would want or need them. But again, I really appreciate your perspective, and I'm going to append this to the thread so those reading can get another voice!
