What's your take on the recent Front Mission 2 rerelease evidently using machine translation? https://twitter.com/EggmaniMN/status/1711210205843992937

It's not machine translation. A lot of the weird EN was present in the original JP game. That said, I'm glad they've publicly acknowledged the text needs more time in the oven, and I'm eager to play the game once they release a clean-up patch.
