tbh since you mentioned it 🤔 I think a lot of the chanhoon tag is mostly au settings as well. there's one work that's set in original that'll be Chanhoonist's Step by step (https://archiveofourown.org/works/51958306). The older fics, like the way at the very end of the tag, are original settings from what I remember.

I'm sorry baby... if you're looking for a long, quality, multiple chapter COMPLETED chanhoon fic... there is... only one that fits that and that is chocolatemilk139's tatbilb chanhoon au fic (https://archiveofourown.org/works/39622227). Everything else multiple chaptered and completed is a chan/everyone fic OR chanhoon are just a side pairing.

and... I would mentioned incompleted works but most of those are chan/everyone rather than chanhoon focused... 🥲 but they're not hard to find when you use the chanhoon tag to find those incompleted quality long multiple chapter works... I have my own incomplete multiple chapter chanhoon fic but.... 😅 I'm struggling with it.

Something about the creature evolving by consuming animals and taking their traits. Some scientists around. It's in japanese. They're watching through a camera that's supposedly suppose to watch this one room the creature is in. One singular dude with a gun kicks in the door. Shoots everywhere. Gets killed. Creature escapes while making creature noise.

everyone in the chanhoon ao3 tag?!?!?!?!??!? i have read every fic in that tag at least more than once. I remember a lot of the authors that are frequently in there too.... how dare you ask me to name a favorite when each one bring something nice! im kidding, but i love everyone so much for even writing a chanhoon, or several chanhoons....

HOWEVER, I GUESS I CAN SAY, I am ultimately bias towards sweet sweet evil goose Sage. their "to all the boys i love before" chanhoon au fic have smashed into my world so profoundly i am now here, stuck in chanhoon. i also have cried over the same scenes over and over despite knowing what happens, or because i know and the emotions get deeper because it has fermented longer........ Yeah. Please read it if you haven't yet.

Winter's first fic being that short chanhoon for jihoon bday fic "let's hug warmly, let's hug beautifully" also buzzed dangerously in my brains in the aftermath of sage's tatbilb and halloween knight fic......

Every author that have posted after those three fics have made my descent 10xs worst. Like i remember vividly being happy about the sudden uptick around the fall of 2022 for chanhoon. of course, there are older chanhoon ones i also love dearly and i think a lot of other chanhoonist would know those fics too.....

BUT I WAS gone with those two specifically so i cherish those two specific fic a lot! I guess you can say they're my favorite chanhoonist then. otherwise i don't really.... know...... ummm dinoozi twitter account is a pretty strong chanhoonist i like to see around?

This will be my undoing.... what are considered tropes......... are there even though chanhoon fics out there to have a trope formulate....... SHJDGN I'm sorry, I'm thinking long and hard but I keep feeling like a lot of these overlap with other pairings as well.... which honestly, in the end, love is a universally understood language so maybe I'll just roll with it.

I'm not even going to lie, this had me struggling.

I guess! My! Most! Favorite! Trope! Is the stupid tension they have when it's clearly mutual but neither have gathered the guts to confess. That they feel a little comfortable in the unspoken but also they really really really want to say something.

Like, I think, hmm, I really really love tension but like in this specific slow burn vibe. They may! like each other immediately but then they just have other things that happen that pushes that to the very back of their mind. It's present but it's not..... loud? And maybe there's a moment that helps clear it but then they just..... they scramble to collect themselves. It's not quiet...... it's intense..... but they're not loud about it.......

Anyways, how hot and cold they can be. Chan being this confident spunky maybe coming off as arrogant that it rubs Jihoon the wrong way first. Clashing.... but seeing the glimpses of different sides of each other....

In a more lighthearted way, just the way they bumble into falling in love with each other. like a romcom! How both are so deeply in love with each other BUT THEY ARE PRIVATE PEOPLE. So private..... some think they aren't even together
