writing tips i'll take literally anything
here's a writing tip that no one ever talks about:
you're allowed to hate your works as much as you want. sometimes i loathe whatever i write, even when i know it's my judgmental eyes looking at it in the most perfectionist sense. but i want it to live up to my impossibly high standards, i want it to be something i would click on and think "yeah, this is going to be a fucking great fic." so it's okay to hate your works and be critical of yourself for the quality of the art that you create but here's the clincher. i think you also need to know when to take a step back and realize that you have actually created something of worth. endless critique is something that your mind will always supply but it's more important to not listen to it always.
writing is quite literally a rollercoaster loop. sometimes there's progress, sometimes there's a slump. but i think it's more about being equal parts critical of yourself but also being kind when it's necessary. next time you think that your fic isn't good enough, well it probably isn't. write as much as you want, add shit, remove shit, edit that motherfucker to oblivion but always rest knowing that you have created something of worth and that you will be proud of what you've brought to life at the end of it.
